Some of you might remember that when I joined K9 last year I was very worried about Tess and her lameness. The vet gave her a series of x-rays and found a loose sliver of bone just below her hock and a possible weekness in her back (due to loosened ligaments in her season). He prescribed 6 weeks lead only exercise and swimming three times a week. She got a lot better, then whacked her poorly leg on the side of the pool and went lame again. This we thought confirmed that the lameness was due to her leg rather than her back. However he said that we would have to wait for her next season to see whether there was any remaining weekness in the back.
Well she has now had her season and I went to the vet to discuss it, and he said that as she had shown no signs of lameness or any pain in her back since his treatment plan and given how well and fast she has been racing, that SHE CAN HAVE PUPPIES- he said that she would probably be stonger and fitter for it than your average dog due to all the swimming.
She only comes into season once a year so she will be having babies this time next year, and I already have 3 definite homes lined up for her babies (and one for us).
I am so incredibly excited, she is my bestest baby and I love her so much, she has a huge fan club here in Oxford and she is an incredible rabbiter and so intelligent.
I now can't wait for next year. I just have to chose hubby.
