Dogs who have shoulders set very far forward seem to turn better than those with shoulders set far back. Dogs with upright shoulders can usually run faster than those with sloping shoulders; at a gallop they appear to have more reach than do those with more shoulder angulationThis is my favourite reference work and has been for a long time. I have long been an admirer of Dan Belkin and have this printed out and refer to it often. It certainly gives food for thought if nothing else. It was such a tragedy when he died, I would have loved to have heard him speak.
