I am petrified of the dentist and a few years ago did go to a really good dentist one of the best who helped me get over the initial sitting in the chair and having a checkup and i did trust him but he was to far to keep going to and very in demand. so I spent a few years not going with a mouth that looked like a collection of broken ice bergues lol.

Tony did some ground work and found a dentist he thought might be OK with i have been a few times check ups clean and polish slowly getting to trust him but today I actually let him do some work I had a jab( that's the worst bit for me) I was a bit iffy but stayed put. then although he had to keep putting the chair up to give my back a rest i did 25 minutes having a tooth rebulit in the chair. In facet I even started nodding of at one point. this might not seam a lot to most but for me it was a major break thought. I was on the verge of asking to be knocked out and all my teeth pulled and dentures fitted it was that bad.

Tony is allowed to stay in the room with me and he said he thinks i scare the dentist hes only freshly qualified and still has a professor about for advice in the practise. But I have to say he was real good didn't mess about but didn't even make me uncomfortable. I was a bit worried as hes quiet new but have to say hes really good and a perfectionists Tony's work all finished and looks brill so fingers cross i can get to smile nicely again with this one and not have to get the lot wiped out.

Well Done Wendy!!! Now you can cope with the scan to :huggles:

i did phone the scan places today there going to try putting a block under my legs so i am lying flat but my legs are in a seated possitin. the dentis had me proped with pilows to gte me sort of upwright yet lying back its took a few goes but we have that bit sorted. and am hoping this block will work for my scan as i cannotlye flat with my legs flat as myspine tilts forward so i lean over. the dnetist is easy once the pillows are proping me as its only my head that need to be back not my legs but I am sure they will work somthing out on monday

Well done, Wendy, I'm totally with you on this one. I had a fear of dentists for years that cost me a tooth - a filling came out years ago and I was too scared to get it refilled (yep, it's the needles that do it!) so ended up about ten years later having to have the whole thing removed as it just fell apart!

My childhood dentist was very old school, talk to the parents, ignore the terrified child etc so I found a new one when I came back to my home town after being at Uni. This guy was fab. Totally put me at ease and suggested I took a Temazepam before my appointment to have the tooth removed. I had to pay full prescription price for ONE TABLET but god it was worth it. I'd have paid 50 quid lol. I walked in joking with the dentist, no fear whatsoever! And when I needed a filling a couple of years ago, I requested it again and was fine. I know for certain I would never have got there if it hadn't been for that little tablet. What a wuss I am.

Am pleased you managed it - I absolutely understand the fear.
