I was saddened today to hear of the sudden death of Mr George Hartley who died in the early hours of this morning.

George was known around the track recently for his fabulous whippet portraits and in the late sixties for his good dogs Billycan, Juds Gem & Juds Imp.

George was taken into hospital on thursday after losing the use of his legs and typical George was more bothered that he wouldn't be able to varnish someone picture ready for this weekend!!!

He will be very sadly missed by all his racing friends in the North West and around the opens.

so sorry to hear about george, only the other week he'd done us a picture of hobgoblin free of charge cos we deceided to retire her.

such a genuinely nice bloke who will be missed, sympathy goes to doreen and family.
