Just had my little patterdale bitch put to sleep and they charged me £42 i would of payed anything for this bitch cos of everything she did 4 me but i thing the prices they bcharging at out of order

im sure it cost me £80+ the other year to get one of my whippets put to sleep. i agree it is ridiculous. rip 2 your little patterdale x

Sorry to read about your loss :(

That doesn't sound too bad when you think of the cost of drugs and time and overheads etc of running a practice. It cost £75 for my poor old cat to plod off to the Bridge last week, but that included a home visit from the vet and nurse that he's known for years, which I would have paid for regardless because he was so unstressed in his final minutes :(

I had edward castrated in sept and they told me the basic price was £74.60 but as one ball was stuck in his groin and he was having a different anaesthetic that they use on whips & greys then the price could be bumped up over £100 depending on how long the op took.

I picked up ed after his op and they only charged me £74.60...they said they couldnt justify charging me for the anaesthetic and the operation only took about 10 mins longer than normal due to the stuck ball.

licenced to rob  paid £900 for a badly repaired broken front leg (ulnar) never to race again broke my heart as well as my pocket atlanta great little dog to race

Literally just got back from the Vet's with Alfie, he's just had his yearly innoculation - £40.50p :sweating:

SORRY TO HEAR THAT GEORGE. my lad storm ripped his sachroiliac joint apart in may, he was kept in a "earlswood" vets for obsevation with view to euthynasia..or surgery . thank god neither was needed . . just rest. he stayed for 5 nights at the vets....£487 !! now please tell me where that amount of money was spent. dont get me wrong i wouldve paid 10 times that to see storm limp from behind the vet counter like he did ! :sweating:

i just think these people have a licence to print money. emotional blackmail comes to mind...and i dont mean frank bruno crying either ! :- "

WOT GETS ME IS U CAN WALK IN WITH 2 DIFO DOGS SAME THING WRONG WITH THEM BUT TWO DIFO PRICES MY M8 JUST PHONED ME HAD HIS JACK RUSSELL PUT TO SLEEP SAME VETS THIS MORNING AND BIGGER DOG THAN MINE AND HIS WAS £34,SOUNDS TO ME IS THEY PRICE REJESTERS IN THERE HEADS AND THATS WOT U PAY

IMO one of the reasons Vets are charging these high prices is due to the fact that so many people have Pet Insurance. As the Vets "bleed" Insurance Companies they have to charge a non-insured person the same price.

There is no way the majority of whippet people could afford to take out Pet Insurance because they have so many whippets. We have seven and it would costs us "an arm and a leg" to take Insurance out on all of them.

Should we need to take our whippets to a Vet, say for teeth problems, then we phone around first and find out the various charges. Surprising how that varies but how Vets can justify these prices who knows!!!!!!

I reckon they charge what ever they like...talking to people from down south i do think there vets charge more than ours in the north...

We always use a vet at maske for injuries and he is a good hours drive, he never chargers a consultation fee because of our traveling , but use a local vet for minor problems and vaccinations he is really expensive

sorry to hear about your little dog :huggles:

i had the vet to my litter on mon , they tied a piece of suture around the little boys skin tag and told me to wait for it to drop off , then they told me the little girl would need an xray .

for a 5" piece of suture and a home visit ( vets 5 mins from me )

i was charged £67.25 :(

plus need 3 xrays on mon at £50 each

because the litter is mine and bliss was born with the condition i cant get insurance if i wanted too

Just short of £500-00 for Fluke at the vets during Scottish Derby this year for the treatment of poisoning.

Barmy prices!
