Hello,

I am hoping this is the right forum to post this topic in...

I am trying to support a private dog charity located in Europe by creating a website for them. They do have many stray dogs which needs homes, and I think advertising them on the website would help them to find the homes quicker.

I know many of you in this forum have their own websites....the question would be: Where shall I start?

1) Is it possible to set new website at home? If yes, which software would you recommend?

2) Or do I have to contact the professionals? And how much roughly should I expect to pay?

I would be very grateful for any suggestions/help...

Many thanks

Maria

Hi, I set up my website last year and was surprised at how easy it was. Believe me, im no expert on the PC so if i can do it, im sure you can.

My website cost £22 per year, that's it, no extra costs. I can update it myself as often as i like, which is great because it's always up to date with our latest news.

I built mine through www.webeden.co.uk They provide step by step instructions, so it was easy peasy.

The link for my website is in my signature.

great...thank you very much for your advice...

I set mine up for free using Blueyonder personal web space ( now Virgin Media ) and the software I used was also free (sitegenwiz at www.enersoft.com)

All you need to do is check if your broadband provider allocates you free personal web space as part of your broadband package and then download Sitegenwiz to build your site and publish it onto your personal web space .

I can update my site personally and have tagged a free counter on the home page to see how much traffic is using it .

It is also best to register a new site with all the search engines as it can take ages for them to find you at first .

Good luck but don't be put off as it is quite easy to do .

The web site I built is attached below .
