Hi

I have a 3 year old female doberman who has started weeing while asleep in the afternoons. She goes through the night fine but for the last 10 days or so when we get back from afternoon 'walkies' she curls up to go to sleep and wees and doesn't seem to know it. She was spayed when she was 7 months old.

Should I be worried about her?

I think she needs a vet visit if its a new condition?

I know of several people with speyed bitches like this. It is one of the reasons I insist a bitch is fully physically mature before going ahead with speying.

I had an older x collie bitch who did this and it is to do with the sphincter muscle and she was put on drops on her food which worked mircales. I currently dog walk and pet sit a Cocker Spaniel bitch who started weeing in her sleep and again it was her sphincter muscle and she is on Propalin Syrup which is working wonders.

Visit the vet with a urine sample to rule out infections and explain all the symptoms. My old bitch had this problem and again Propalin or Urilin (same drug different manufacturers Urilin normally cheaper) worked wonders.

All of the above - check for urinary tract infection, but also for 'spay incontinence'. There are straightforward solutions to both :)
