Does anyone have any tips for getting a bit of weight off a dog? I know it's pretty obvious really, less food.... more exercise.
But I don't really know if certain things like rawhide chews are full of calories or not.
Hebe does agility so is a pretty active dog but also seems to put weight on very easily, she is a thief & a scrounger (O.K. I know, just your typical lurcher then :- " )
I have just weighed her on the bathroom scales, not the most accurate I know & to my horror she seems to be 20kg.
She is only 21" & is 6.5 yrs old.
I can feel her ribs & she looks o.k. but is definately not as slim as she used to be. I reckon she should be around 17-18kg so needs to lose about 2kg.
What do you think?
I am going to stop all treats & give her carrots instead but what about the chewies & chicken wings? I thought of substituting the Nature Diet for tuna or cottage cheese but will she get enough protein. I need to keep her energy levels up for the agility.
Any help will be much appreciated.
