hi everyone. weighed the 3 pups ive kept back 2 bitches and 1 dog they will be 8wks on wednesday. 1 bitch at 8lb5oz. 1 bitch at 8lb and the dog is 10lb. i know its hard to tell at this stage but has anyone had similar weights at this age and what did they make final adult weight?

Mirrell we have always found that whatever the pups weigh at 12 weeks old - double that weight and add a couple of pounds and that is the final weight. If there is Greyhound blood in the breeding though it may not work so accurately.

The last litter we bread (the mother being half-bred greyhound weighing 36 lbs and the stud dog 20lbs) there were 5 pups and the weights were as follows:

At 12 weeks: Bitch 14 and half pounds Racing weight 30/31 lbs

Bitch 13 lbs raced at 26 lbs

Dog 15 lbs raced at 32 lbs

Dog 15 lbs raced at 38 lbs

Dog 20 lbs raced at 41 lbs

So you can see these weights - except for one - worked out by our calculations we use.

thankyou joan that does help. yes the mother is greyhound 60lb dad 22lb.
