A Huge 'WELL DONE' to you & the girls...no mean feat at that show !! Keep the family flag flying !!...........

I went, had a really good day, shame about the whippet judging though. the judge picked a really nice show bred bitch in front of the toned working whippets.

You can't take owt away from the winning bitch it was nice, but didn't have any muscle tone at all. in fact none of the 3 finalists had any muscle tone and they

were all fawn!!!.

Great day will be back next year for the 600 mile round journey :D

Did you get to put your hands on the whippets then?,or are you just a bad loser, lovely dogs but with dirty teeth and very long nails on some of the whippets.

I have 2 show whippets at home and 10 lurchers, some of which work and some that are for the show ring

Can't keep everyone happy ,there's always one at every show.

From a very happy judge who enjoyed her day at the Welsh Game Fair.

Anyone have any results/photos?

Trouble with welsh shows is that there are far too many bull x's! (please dont slate me!)

Yes i went as well and can say that the winning show bitch was one i bred but not only did she win that she also went and won the coursing!!!

Bit like me really doesnt show her figure to the full advantage, we might look overweight but can move when we want. She also works!!!

There were over 500 dogs in total so really good turnout.

So you don't work your whippets??

As i stated i enjoyed the day and i SAID the bitch that won was a nice bitch. However everyone has a right to there opinion and my opinion was the bitch that won lacked muscle tone. and yes i did get me hands on the winning bitch and it was in a soft condition imo (only my opinion).

I didn't have a problem with the way the judge looked over the whippets, she was gentle and spent the time needed to look over the dogs properly

I know what you mean about dirty teeth and long nails, but what you will find with working whippets is there nails are kept to a slightly longer length than show whippets. (i suspect you know this already). There's no excuse for dirty teeth though.

I was happy to get pulled out in the final line up out of a class of 19 and as i said i'll be back next year, hopefully with a whippet puppy in tow as well.

I understand your veiws and know how hard it is , you can't please everyone. What would of been nice is a working whippet winning at the end of the day. But you can also argue that showing is a beauty contest afterall.

I'm not a bad loser in fact my opinion is i always take the best dog home, what was encouraging is the half a dozen people who came up to me after to congratulate me on my dogs condition and said how they thought she should have been placed.

A couple of photo's of the last seven (in 2 pics)

Mally, there was a simulated coursing demo/comp ? in the main ring....don't know if many dogs ran or who organised it, I just saw it mentioned it in the main ring programme. By the way, always like your photos, have seen them on other sites, & as alot of people know I am VERY pro a dual purpose hound, be it lurcher or whippet, they are hunters by nature, showing is an added summer bonus......

The bitch being held by the chap in the green shirt next to the winner is out of her- both work on the lamp, she is by an Oakbark dog. 5 years ago (i think might be 6) I won the class with the winners dam, so how about that for keeping it in the family, she then got pinched by the gypsies leaving her only litter at 6 weeks old with me, got a full brother here to that bitch and he had sired a pup placed in the lurcher class!!!lol :D
