We started out from Armagh in convoy at 8.00am on Sunday morning for Westmeath, leading the way was Patsy and Deidre Mc Coy. After 2 1/2 hours we finally reached our destination safe and sound . Many thanks to Patsy for that. Although it rained all the way to Mearse Court House, the gods were looking down on us, it stopped raining when the showing started. Mearse Court House is set in the heart of the Westmeath countryside, between Mullingar and Ballymahon in the South of Ireland and it is a place you would die for. It is surrounded by wonderful country side scenery, greenery, and animal life is in abundance. What a place.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr George Treacy, the owner of Mearse Court house for his hospitality and kindness shown to us all on the day. George made sure we were all happy and comfortable with our surroundings. George you are a true gentleman and not afraid to get your hands dirty. This was very evident on the day the way you mingled and helped in every way you could with the crowd and kept an eye on everything. Thanks again George. Not forgetting Kevin Maguire, Noel Lambert, Ger Murphy and all the committe and judges. Kevin you done a wonderful job, and for a very worthy cause( Auticism). You made us all very welcome. It was a hard task to organise for a first time show, but you made it a roaring success. Well done. Apart from our convoy from Armagh, we rendevoued with the rest of the Northern Ireland contingent. Peter Morgan was there in his glory as usual, also Dessie Macken, Darren Connolly, Joe Boggs, Sammy and his colleagues from Newtownards, and Billy and Kirsty Harpur who travelled all the way from Draperstown Road in Londonderry. What a journey. Our convoy included myself and John, Gareth Mc Cullough and his pertner Jenny, Rabb Greer and his wife Sharon, and of course Patsy and Deidre. A great days craic was had by all.
There were quite a few winners amoung our contingent. "Bluebell" Deidre will have them all on shortly. I cannot finish without thanking Bluebell for taking all the lovely photographs on the day, and for your frienship craic. Bluebell you make the day, when we can ALL see ourselves all up on K9 with our brilliant dogs and most of all our wonderful sporting and K9 friends. Thanks for that Deidre. We were very lucky, our beautiful whippet " Silver " got first in her class, and the other 2 got a 2nd and a 3rd. So we all went home very tired but happy bunnies. A great day was gad by all.
Again, thanks George and Kevin for a wonderful day, and hope to see you all again next year.
