:) HAD THE PLEASURE OF VISITING THIS SHOW TWO YEARS AGO.

NEW YORK FANTASTIC :)

DOG SHOW :(

Have always thougt that this show would be the dogs Bits. Cream of the crop so to speak. I am sorry you were disappointed Helen. I had planned to go with a group of friends but have decided to do whippet world congress 2008 instead

Are there no fancy stalls with OTT american type fancy things on them, to keep you interested ? Or Very attractive young free and single men to chat to ( Like Our Russ)? :*

Im dissapointed now and I havent been :(

Doesn't sound great to me. I'd like to be able to watch especially when you travelled so far. Did you try DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM ? :- "

But seriously when you go to another country to see a show you expect it to be like "home" sitting at ring side reading the catalogue and taking pictures & chating to the exhibiters & Breeders. Maybe some of the other shows would be more "open" than westminster ?

I

Im saving up for 2008 too :huggles:

I went to the Westminster about 13 years ago , and I too loved New York , but the dog show left alot to be desired ,Only 1 class per breed (w00t) , couldnt get near the ring for all the professional handlers and their `supporters  , So we watch from the elevated seats . There was only 34 whippets the year I went , and to be honest I wasnt terribley impressed with alot of them  All the whooping and holling made it really noisy (w00t) , lets hope that dosnt `travel the sea `It was more like a `clap omitter` method of judging from what I could see. Not much in the way of `stalls either , no wonder they love to come over here ;)

How many whippets this year ., any one know ??

As it is based on the first come first served and all have to be CH , I dont think for one minuite that what I saw were the best the USA could offer ,,,,,, Ive got a video of my time over there , plus some pics ,...but hey the shopping was great fun , NEW YORK is one fantastic place

Im saving up for 2008 too :huggles:

I'm thrilled to announce that there will be an Aussie flavour to Westminster this year with as the Wicked Whippet, Electra, will be there. :p

Westminster isn't a normal dog show and is by invitation only to the 'top' dogs and then there are a few spaces left for ballot. The number of a breed exhibited is determined by I think registration numbers. So, although a small number exhibited, it is supposed to be a quality entry.

I told her owner, Lisa, that she has my permission to ring me in the middle of the night if Electra wins. I doubt I'll get that phone call but I'm still very happy and proud that Electra will be there. Lisa was already going over for the National in April, but once she heard Electra made it in, she booked another trip as we doubt we'll ever have another of our dogs there.

She did ring to tell me there was masses of snow and a blizzard so conditions aren't great.

My husband still gripes I let the best one go but if I hadn't, she wouldn't have had the opportunities that her owner Lisa Barrenger (Isilwane) , and American admirer and co-owner, Phoebe Booth (Shamasan) have given her. We miss her terribly and look forward to her returning to Oz mid this year - hopefully with some more great wins.

So please, cross your fingers (and toes) for Electra (BISS, BIS, Aust & Am Ch Ridgesetter Fly The Flag AOM, SC, ET). She's certainly lilving up to her name.

A very proud breeder.

Still waiting for the video... Had a look at the Italian Greyhounds in the meantime. Have they not discovered that they come in other colours over there? :- "

Well, in my defence, this is really not off-topic, as (whilst no expert) I think some of those "toys" look more like little whippets than anything else. :- "

aye, i had a look at the scottish deerhound video as whippy's arn't on yet,

didn't notice what the dogs were like as i couldn't stop watching the woman in the ring taking a bite of a titbit for the dog then putting it in it's mouth then back in her own then back to the dogs then back to hers and so on :x

eeeyew :x all that drool :x

poor dog

No phone call for me. :( Interesting to watch the video but it's never the same as being there. I'm sure Lisa will fill me in on all the gossip when she gets back home.
