I posted something one this a while ago - it is a weekend called Dog Days as on the Sunday there is a Scrufts heat for the crossbreed of the year - you can find further details and a schedule on the westonbirt website. Sounds like a good day out - lots of things to do and see and a doggy treasure trail etc - I am going along on the Sunday!

Just thought you might find this of interest - this is what is happening at Westonbirt on the 18th/19th Feb:-

Every dog has its day at Westonbirt Arboretum - "Dog Days" Feb 18th & 19th 2006 9.00 to 5.30

Hosted by the Arboretum and supported by the Kennel Club, "Dog Days" is a celebration of dogs, health, nature and country living, featuring the first UK heat of SCRUFFTS, the nation's favourite crossbreed competition. A fun-packed weekend for all the family - whether you have a dog or not!

SATURDAY 18 FEBRUARY - The line-up includes those heroic hounds from Search & Rescue (SARDA), a fly-ball contest and the Kennel Club's "Good Citizen" display (find out if YOUR dog is a good citizen!)

RSPCA Competitions 2pm -4.30pm - Agility Competition and Child Handler's Obstacle Course(Entry: 50p donation to the RSPCA for each competition)

SUNDAY 19 FEBRUARY - SCRUFFTS 12 - 2pm - The Kennel Club's hugely enjoyable, family-orientated, cross-breed canine competition. Each entrant will have a few minutes in the spotlight to dazzle the judges in the following 4 classes:

Most Handsome Crossbreed Dog, 6 months - 7 years

Prettiest Crossbreed Bitch, 6 months - 7 years

Child's Best Friend* 6 months - 12 years

Golden Oldie Crossbreed, 8 years - 12 years

*(handled by a young person between 6 & 16 years of age)

Entry to each class is £1, with all money raised going to the Kennel Club Charitable Trust. The winners from each heat will be invited to "Discover Dogs" in 2006 for the Grand Final at Earl's Court, London.

On both days you can follow the Animal Magic Trail through the beautiful Silk Wood and then enter the draw to win a 2-night mid-week break - with your dog - at The Hare & Hounds Hotel, Westonbirt

Normal Admission charges to the Arboretum apply:

Adults £5, Concessions/seniors £4, Children £1.

Dog Day programmes: £3 (includes Treasure Trail route)

For further details of SCRUFFTS, including rules of eligibility, contact the Kennel Club on: 0207 518 1012 or visit their website:

thank you for the info will look on the site for westonbirt show.
