Christmas Day started just fine until it was prezzie time! As Indie (border collie cross) has a bad reaction to squeaky toys, I bought them a lamb each (proper fluffy ones for dogs) and took the squeaks out-completely out! They had there's first so we could quietly get on with our own! Wrong! Indie decided it was a 'squeaky' and went mental-running around barking & whining, wee'ing as she went Within 20 mins the offending lambs were hidden & Indie had calmed down. Buzz, the lurcher, could not understand what was happening & looked quite worried.
Later it was time for dinner. Indie has had bad reactions to the noise from my mobile when it needs recharging, the fire alarms beeping when the power to them is cut, and of course, anything that squeaks, but has never reacted to Christmas Crackers ~~ until we cracked 2 open  Once again she went ballistic, as before, but this time adding the great sport of throwing herself at doors to try and get out. Once again Buzz thought something must be wrong, so he too became agitated & barked....... Out came the mop, we undid the crackers whlist my OH was soothing her to calm her down. Our dinner was well cooled by then but OH's needed a blast in the microwave as he took about 20 mins out!
After those episodes she lay down & slept for hours....
We handled it all quite calmly as she needs reassurance, but she did come very close to a bit of a telling off!! Today they have been completely normal, but they both managed to grab a 'pig in blanket' each when I dropped them on the floor when putting them back in the fridge! So all we have tonight is bad wind & rumbling tummies, poor things.
Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas & Boxing Day  We had a lovely walk in the morning in beautiful sunshine! Bit cold tho' but lovely nevertheless
