So where to start...

I went to the local animal rescue about 2 years ago.

I saw a 3month old pup that I fell in love with.. The shelter did not know what breed he was and said they thought he was a mastiff.

Now theres many different kinds of mastiff and I searched and searched and could not find anything like him, the most similar was a bullmastif but the face didnt fit.

My dog was off his leash over the fields and went bouldering up to someone he saw... barking and staring at them (His usual thing)...

I walked over and the guy said oh you have a Boerboel ?

Got me thinking, I researched it and I have literally found my dogs look a like but wanted to be sure

Champion/Pedigree Boerboels - www.postimage.org/image/42syrkxw1/

The champion/pedigree/award winning dogs are the only ones I could find that didnt look they were filled with steroids or unfairly weight trained.

Is this the same as my dog?

He looks so similar to all of them, same build, face, eyes, ears, wrinkles (You cant see this so well in the lighting but in the sun you really can)

Is this my dogs breed??

Thanks.

I am not sure what he is but he is lovely....

He certainly looks like he's a Boerboel, but then again I know a dog that if you saw without knowing his parentage you would swear is a long haired GSD (and I work in GSD rescue- I really should know!) but I know for a fact that his mum is a greyhound/afghan/something else lurcher and his dad is a timberwolf cross. His littermate sister looks like a pretty standard short haired lurcher but when she got caught whilst in season and had pups, all of her pups came out white or grey with full wolf face masks in black.

You could probably get his looks by a chance mating between a Rhodesian Ridgeback and a Dogue de Bordeaux too, but then the same applies to most dogs that you get without a pedigree :)

He looks a very strong and interesting little soul, either way round :)
