Me and my family have recentlyadopted a 1 year old lurcher from a rescue home and he is the most affectionate dog ever. I think he is a cross with a greyhound and terrier but not entirely sure. Just wondered if any one else had a lurcher and what they thought of them? Also, he is very needy, and doesn't like being alone so whines when one of us even just goes upstairs, any ideas of how to stop this?

No-one in this forum will tell you that a lurcher is anything but the best dog ever!

Yes they have spirit but that's just part of them :) As for separation anxiety - leave him alone on a regular basis for 1 minute, then return. Increase the time left alone over a period of days, and keep him aware that no matter when you leave him you will be back.

Good luck

Lurchers are great , I have had one for the past 12 years

You don't say how long you have had your dog but in my experience rescued dogs do follow you around for a while until they settle .

we have had phoebe 3 years in september she is our rescue she still follows me around every were shes my shadow and would now feel very strange if shes not with me shes my hart I have seen her as a shivering reke and is showing us a different side to her constantly even now a new part of her has come out and shes started to get quit vocal were she never made a nose before its a pleasure to see different things in her all the time shes getting a lot better with humans too but still alot of work to do there me thinks.

going to the Game fairs have helped a lot were there is so much going on. just my opinion.
