Hi all,

Billie & Lizzie are now putting on weight with lots of food and .......... Sshhh, 'walkies'.

They don't like the rain though.

What are the best types of coats for them. I've been told they are quite big for whippets, but are quality dogs. Do they go on back length or chest size or weight?

Tried one on Billy that was long enough, but was far too big aroung the middle. The breeds stated as suitable for were boxers, Akitas etc, so really too big, but the smaller ones only came half way up the back. Do you have to buy whippet specific ones? :(

Hi Linda

I am glad that Billie and Lizzie are doing well.

Contact Rachel at Citycroft coats. She makes coats just for whippets. She is listed in the 'market Place' . You will get what you need at a a reasonable price. she will tell you how to measure to make sure that they fit. Shops just don't sell coats designed for the whippet sillouette :)

By the way, I have never yet met a whippet that liked the rain :)

i do fleece ones nearer the winter ,there reversable to will be adding some to market place once the weather turns .heres few examples :D

I've had Citycroft coats and can vouch for the fact they are excellent quality, made to measure in colours of your choice, keep them warm and stay in place! I got the waterproof ones and they are brilliant. Details of how to measure are on the website. And I'm not related, just a happy customer :D

Thanks for all the recommendations guys - glad you all have happy cosy whippets!! :D

My favourite is Dogcoats We've had several of these in increasing sizes as Grace has outgrown them and been very pleased.

Hi all,

Thanks for the replies. I forgot to tag my topic, so didn't realize that anyone had replied. I'll get the hang of this one day.

I'll have a look at all your suggestions my husband is the one that's into all this, ....... Gok wan for dogs! He was fitting all the coats on them and parading them around in pets at home the other day. Good job we don't have chihuahua's!

They were let off the lead for the 1st time today with some trepidation. No need though, they didn't venture very far.

Thanks again for all the help.
