my neighbours husband thinks its fun to bark at the dogs as jay charges to fence and barks at him

have asked him to stop as im scared jay will go through the fence

so if hes out in his garden and jay wants out i go out with him

this afternoon all the boys were out sunnying themselves when neighbour comes home

then their daughters and friend go on the trampoline so next 3 hours of screaming

daughters friend starts barking at jay

i asked very nicely if she would stop doing it as i don't want him coming through fence

she kept on teasing him so had to bring him in after asking several times to stop

what scares me is im frightened that jay will bite her if hes wound up

is there anything i can do??

just be very carm say what there doing is crule and if Jay injures himslef your giving them pleanty of warning they will be paying the vet bill say it nice and carmliy

I would write letter telling them simply that as of that day they will be liable for any injuries caused to your dog, property or any person as they are deliberately aggravating the dog. Inform them that this is not a nasty dog but they are causing other neighbours to complain (whether they are or not...) and you have informed the other neighbours that the dog only does this in reponse to aggravation from themselves (the horrible neighbours). Also let them know that in the interest of your dog's health (ie you don't want him pts) you have set up CCTV cameras (get a dummy one or put your video can where they can see it on a window sill) so that if any complaints are made to the police you have evidence that it was aggravated.

That should shut them up.

Oh and also ask how they would feel if you screamed at their children over the fence to get a reaction. Would they think that was fair? And what kind of lessons are they teaching their children? Honestly, some people! What an idiot.

Excellent advice I would defo invest in a dummy camera and put it pointing towards your garden but leaning toward the fence - one thing most folks don't like is being recorded or at least think they are being recorded - likewise when they complain that you are recording over there garden then politely suggest that they stop winding your dog up and you#ll remove the camera!

surrounding neighbours are aware of the situation

there going to keep a eye out tomorrow

thanks for replys so far

It's always worth letting the local police know what is happening so that if the situation escalates you have already voiced your concern.

The camera is a great idea!! I might employ that one myself at some stage in the future

Your neighbours sound like right numbskulls - what moronic behaviour!!!! Just thought .......... how about getting your camera out and videoing him when he's doing this barking and then post it on You Tube. We could all have a good laugh at him then. Might be worth putting an ad in the local shop with the You Tube link on so that the whole neighbourhood can watch him making a fool of himself :teehee:

Good luck Tina :luck: - hope you can get the cretin sorted out!!

In the first instance I would go round at a time when they are in their house and not in the garden annoying the dogs . I would very politely ask them not to do this and give them your reasons why . If this doesn't work then I would go down the other routes suggested . Inform the police , and the best one , recored them doing it and make them aware that you are recording them ;)

oh Jane the you tube idea is brilliant   ;)

Your neighbour (husband) is bringing up his children to behave as irresponsibly as he does, if the daughter is now making the barking noise while playing out.

Could you have a word with the wife first on her own, if she is more reasonable? I think all the answers already given (above by other posters) are excellent advice. I would also say, perhaps, (see how the situation goes) that although you don't want to go to the police (even though you do!) you could be left with no option; because of the way they are aggravating your dog it could very easily cause the dog to overreact in other situations in public and you, as a responsible dog owner, do NOT want that to happen. You've taken great care and concern over the way you look after your dogs and it would be a great shame if the temperament of one of your dogs was ruined because of their extremely silly behaviour.

Plus, don't you have to right to enjoy your own back garden? and that includes quietly relaxing with your dogs.

Your neighbour is a fool.

I agree with jinnifizz. Brill idea. You have our sympathy, we have got a nasty neighbour too, but he hasnt been any bother since we called police to him when he was banging on fence. Chin up Tina. See you soon.

thank you all for your replys it's much appreciated

have already approached the wife but with no joy

tbh her attitude was not nice

some brilliant ideas thanks for taking the time to reply

We were having trouble with our neighbour a few years ago nosing over our fence. We had a 6ft fence and even saw them measuring it to make sure it wasn't over 6ft. It was on our side but our garden was lower than theirs so it is only 5ft on their side. They phoned the council saying I was leaving dog mess in the garden and it smelt. Load of b*****s I cleaned it up every day before I went to work but the mother in law was letting the dogs out during the day. I told the council man to tell them I was having a cctv camera put up following the line of the fence If I saw them on tape looking or leaning over my fence I would take them to court for invasion of privacy. They've never phoned the council since.

We were told though if you put a camera up it can follow the line of the fence but you can NOT film over your fence into your neighbours garden or they can take you to court for invasion of privacy too. I did also say if I saw them looking over when I was hosing up they might get and accidental shower.
