What's all this about people adding friends? Why does someone who's not made any posts add me as a friend? Do I get any say in this?

There is something on the friends page about friends pending approval but I don't know what setting controls that. At the right of my iPad screen there are three buttons by each friend, one of them deletes the person as a friend.

Just looked on my profile page and I had 2 "friends" !!! Deleted now.
