Hi all

whats the difference between non pedergree and pedergree racing whippets.

Sorry my spelling bad.

Im new to this and would love to find out more.

pedigree whippets are pure whippet, whereas non peds usually have greyhound blood in them

Dean also posted on another topic this. So I've added to his post. (I've moved both his topics from his chit chat into peddie and non peddie racing)

H im new on this site and was just wondering if there is a whippet racing club or terrier racing club near me i live next to epsom downs or epsom race course (horse racing lol)(surrey).

Ihave a Parson russell at the mo and would like to get a whippet and get into the racing whippet but like to join a local club 1st before buying one to learn all i can 1st.

Hope u all can help.

Dean.

Not necesarrily true (either way if some folk are to be believed)

Pedigree whippets hava a document stating they are registered with the Kennel Club and a paper pedigree full of names of their ancestors which were all also registered with the Kennel Club.

Non-pedigree whippets do not have a document stating they are registered with the KC although ALL their ancestors (including parents) MAY have all had a piece of paper from the KC. But they also may be a cross between a pure-bred whippet (one whose blood-lines were all whippet for several generations) and another breed eg greyhound OR a combination of the two

Lol the last time someone discussed this it ended up 25 pages long! (w00t)

non peds tend to be stronger and faster the pure whippets,,,,,

also non peds tend to hav a straighter back ,,,,and tend to be more mucled up than a pure

peds tend to have more off an arched back,,,

personally i think non peds look better,,,, :- " :- "

dont take affence i have had both and greys and i think that non peds obay you more than peds do. and they do have more speed. but they are all wee o:)

Spot on .....and I own ped racers lol ........Though I must disagree with them being more obedient than peds .........My peds are very obedient, but our only Whippet x years ago was a right  in more ways than 1 .......Plus the Greyhounds I've had over the years, really just did what I asked (eventually) ..........4 of my ped racers are good enough to do well in obedience .......and the other 4 are just plain easy :D

at least we agree on some things
