Hi all i'v got a problem with zeb. :(

For the past few days zeb has been getting worse in the park. As soon as he sees the park he starts pulling, especially when there are other dogs in the park.

When he goes in he starts barking (like normal) but then if i take him off his lead he runs up to the other dogs barking at them, then he trys to run into them or jump over them. :(

Afew days ago he got over excited and had a go at a puppythat would not play with him. :( He has also tryed to run through my friends gaint schnauzer. Its like he does not know when to stop. :b

This morning he got to the park and there were 2 collies in the park that he knows, He got so excited that i had to keep him on the lead until i thought that he had calmed down. As soon as i took his lead off he ran straight over to them barking and jumping at them. No amount of calling him back worked, so i through his ball which he ran after. He the ran back to the 2 dogs and did the same again. so he got put on his lead. Took him off again after about 5 mins and then he did the same to my friens dogs. :(

I have not changed his food,if cheeked his ears and teeth, the only thing i can think of is that his routine at the moment has slightly changed by 10 mins as i have not got a car at the moment. Also my OH is doing some building work in the hall way. :b

Could this be the reason? Sorry its so long but if very worried has its not really like him to be sooo hyper.

How old is he, and how often do you usually take him for a walk?

It sounds like he's just over-excited; do you find after a while that he returns to 'normal' or is he like it the whole time you're out?

Has he been well socialised with other dogs up untill now?

Mine always have a mad dash together when out, and Holly is awful for getting over excited whilst running..she jumps all over willow barking and going through it! ( but not in a 'proper' nasty way i may add! :) ) Holly also does it to our EBT! (w00t) :teehee:

I think whippets in general do tend to get really excited whilst running cause they love it so much! Like all the adrenelin goes to their head! o:)

Have you maybe missed taking him out for a few days? or dont take him out everyday? as i imagene that may cause him to be over exciteable. They really do need a good regulary blow-out i believe! ( ps. im no expert at all, Im new to the breed really, thats just my thoughts after my experience with mine! :D )

Hi Zeb is 3 next week. up until now he has been fine with recall. Last week he started to drop his ball and came back but apart from that hes been fine.

He get 2 walks aday in good light (as i will not go out in the dark) and at lease 2 good 3 or more miles walks aweek. :))

We have had him a year on sunday and this is the first time he has done this (mad 30 mins)

I just dont want him getting a name for himself. :sweating: He has been well socialized around the dogs in the park and play on occation with 6 or more in 1 go.
