Where did you buy your newfoundland puppy? help..

Hi guys,

I am new on this forum, but I am urgently looking for some advice.

I have decided to buy a brown Newfoundland puppy however all the litters up for sale I have seen so far are either of black or landseer puppies and even those are not that frequently found.

I have been checking sites like pets4homes and did email some breeders (with no luck).

Could anyone that has previously bought a newfie pup please tell me where you got them from, how much you paid, and how long you had to wait before you could find the one you were looking for.

Sorry, I can't help with your specific search.

Some general advice would be to contact as many breeders as possible and get yourself on their waiting lists. Go visit their premises to make sure they are not Puppy Farmers. Just say that you would like to look at their breeding stock. Visit dog shows and talk to non breeders. These people usually know the breeders to avoid, either from their own mistakes or from sharing information with others. Newfie people often work their dogs so maybe try to go along to those events and get involved while you wait.
