Just letting you all know whats happened and why ive had to let some of the whippets go this week. Im an insulin dependent diabetic im only 37 but for the last couple of weeks ive been thinking i cant feel my feet or the bottom part of my legs like you do when you walk across a frosty cold field.

Anyway i eventually went to the doctors and told him how i felt and he got me into the diabetic clinic the very next day and they found out ive got dangerously high blood pressure and this is what was causing my legs to feel funny.

Ive had a terrible week and i decided to cut my work load down by reducing my dogs and horses, this is devasting for me. Ive had some lovely people call me about the dogs and ive also had the usual dog dealers call one in particular told me to name my price on a certain bitch ive got.

Anyway all have now found lovely homes, mainly through the greyhound rescue people. I will get better but i need to start looking after myself more, i hope to see you all at some of the shows in the summer and thanks for all your support.

Bernadette

so are you the owner of the advertised 9yr old bitch ??

This must have been heartbreaking for you. I am glad that you managed to find good loving homes for your girls. There are so many 'scounderels' out there.

I hope that you respond well to your treatment and are feeling better soon. They are talking about a new treatment being available in a few years for your type of diabetes that will be much more effective. Lets hope sooner rather than later.

Best wishes

eve

I'm really pleased to hear that you have managed to find good homes for your girls, I like to help with rehoming whenever I can and you are quite near to me (in Devon terms :) )

There are so many complications with diabetes and I feel for you, having to cope with the illness, and hope that you can get it under control and keep well

Please do PM me if I can be of any help with the dogs in the future!

Jane

Very sorry to hear you have had to rehome some of your 'fur family', it must have been a tough decision but the right one when you need to look after yourself more. I hope you manage to quickly get your system back into balance. I also have a bit of peripheral neuropathy (though not diabetic) and know how unpleasant and worrying it is. Take good care of yourself :huggles: .

HI Bernadette

Just a quick note to let you know that Neive and Sophie have both settled in really well.

Neive has found her place in the pack of Greyhounds and My Grandaughter now thinks that she has her own "Macey" size Greyhound, she follows her everywhere and keeps kissing her

Her being my first Whippy is a real change from hulking great Greys, for one she SITS !!! She is eating really well and loves to nick the greys food but they just move over and let her tuck in.... will have to watch that - we dont want a podgy Whippy :- )

Our trip back last night was nothing less than tourturous with the M5 and the A303 both closed due to accidents it took 7 hours to do 270 miles but a pit stop at 2 M&S service stations provided welcome loo breaks for me and roast chicken dinners for the girls. I have never seen £8 worth of chicken breast disappear so fast

I took these photo's just after we got in at gone 1am, It had been a long day for her so she looks a little shell shocked plus no flash so not too good but I didn't want to alarm her (camera over compensates for low light)

And a Photo of the gang she is now part of

L ro R Cassie(7), Buster(on holiday with us), Magic(5), Nessie(7) and Seanie (Foster at the time), Bonnie (Not in photo, our Foster at the mo)

They all love the swimming pool and most take a dip at one time or the other, If Neive feels the urge she will be coming in with me as she is too small to swim on her own unlike the greys who can reach the bottom and "stand" up on their own. Hopefully we will have some more sunny days to teach her to swim.

Will keep you posted on how she progresses.

Speak soon

Mark

What a lovely update. Thanks for sharing that.

Sorry to read about your diabetes. It can lead to some very nasty complications >_< , if you don't take proper care of yourself, so do take care! Look after yourself.
