"Presley is a 9 year old whippet boy who recently landed in our care. Although Presley IS a pedigree whippet he is a very large boy standing at around 23 inches and weighing in at a whopping 20kg. Presley ended up with his owners as a young adult as he was too big for showing the rest of the litter turned out to breed standard but Presley just grew and grew."

Tis silly season here at Gap folks and I have NO idea what is happening. We are also taking a pure white pedigree whippy 8 year old male in this week as his owners are emigrating.

Ive lost count now of just how many pure bred whippets we have had in the last six to eight months and they just keep coming. There is a chance we may have a 6 year old blue boy landing in a week or two aswell.

Here are a couple of this years other whippets.....

Tippy is around 2 - 3 years old and was found tied up in a Staffordshire village to railings with three female 12 week oldish deerhound bitch pups aswell.

Oz is around six and an owner relinquishment from South Wales. Oz is to the right of the black hound

John is 2 and was an owner relinquishment from Stoke.

Sidney 2 year old whippet boy from Derbyshire He is the blue and white boy on the sofa with his whippet pals

Peep Peep came to us via her breeder who had her three years. Apparently she wasnt getting on with the new bitch pup so had to go. The breeder swore she never noticed anything wrong with Peep Peeps eyes but within 24 hrs we had and she has just had to have £2500 worth of lens surgery on her eye as the lens were detatched. The specialist said they could have *burst* at anytime. This was taken two days before the specialist told us and we had let her run on the beach like wildfire

ALL the owner surrenders were offered to us with pedigree papers which we declined to take of course but its scary!

Up until this year we had only had three pure whippets in three years.

Heartbreaking to see so many lovely dogs looking for homes, the greys are beautiful too. Wishing they all find happy loving homes soon. :luck:

I have offered to foster and adopt with GG and LL months ago but was not allowed either as my bitch had not been spayed and was refused a bitch too. I had the home check approved by LL.

Since then I have successfully fostered and re-homed dogs with a local rescue and adopted an entire dog.....now neutered, in my care.

Just a word of warning to anyone getting their hopes up with an unspayed bitch.

Yes it's a great shame that there are so many dogs in the rescue centres and hope that these whippets will get their home soon.

Thank you Jan, John was particularly lovely and three months later im trying to work out the logic of his owner. They were having a baby so decided to part with John because he may be to bouncy they openly admitted they were having a rottweiler puppy instead

Honestly if people would think things through before jumping in headlong
