Good home offered to small dog. Can't afford much but good home assured. Would live with a placid Labrador bitch and some children.

My old whippet died recently and we want to fill the gap with a similar type of dog.

Any help would be appreciated.

have you tried the many rescues out there? good luck in you search, also try putting an ad up in your local vets? often they will know of dogs needing new homes for various reasons, also try lurcher link?

Yes try www.lurcher.org, there is a whippety dog called Cyril in Homes Wanted atm, not sure if he has a home in mind but there's probably somedog on there to fall in love with! :)

Not sure if it's working atm (couldn't get on just now) but will very soon I'm sure.

I'm sorry you lost your old whippet. :(

they are looking to rehome Alice, a whippet cross, along with her small terrier companion

I think she's at PAWS in Kildare, Ireland

there are several other lurchers on that Dublin area page at the moment, including a very handsome brindle pub with white markings; I don't know how large he is expected to grow

I saw a young whippet cross bitch listed at Many Tears rescue (Wales) last week, but maybe she's been rehomed. Now there is a notice for whippet-cross who is less whippet-like in appearance but still attractive and whippet size. Her name is Courage. see http://www.freewebs.com/manytearsrescue/do...ingforhomes.htm

I also saw a notice for a beautiful saluki cross male only 22 inches tall being looked after at Greyhound Gap. He's called "Banjo"

see http://www.lurcher.org/kaye/LurcherLinkweb...dingHomes2.html

and more:

Oscar – Bedlington type lurcher at Greyhound Gap http://www.lurcher.org/llink/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6337

Bree – 20 inch whippet lurcher bitch, 9 months old

Lake District

Sally – tiny Bedlington- type cross in West Yorkshire

http://www.lurcher.org/llink/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6342

if no one contacts you directly through k9, it's worth looking at www.lurcher.org and any local rescue groups, esp. greyhound/lurcher rescues

some of these dogs are in great need of a good home. for instance, Courage wasn't just abandoned; she was thrown over an 8 foot wall

try the whippet rescue as I fellow whippet owner I know they are a good organisation. For more info leave a message in a pedigree whippet race club forum (gloucester race club is good)
