We're looking for a friend for our whippy. I've pm'd a couple of people on k9 and hadn't realised how much the prices have risen since we bought Nelly 3 years ago (w00t) .

We would be happy to home (as a pet) either pedigree or non-pedigree and although we are more than able to continually care for a whippy both emotionally and financially we can ill afford the price of a pedigree :( .

I was just enquiring as to how much a non-ped would cost us? Obviously if all prices are out of our range we will save a while longer for one and would happily wait. We could afford now £200 - £250. Any information regarding prices and possible litters would be welcome.

We are in the Liverpool area and willing to travel.

Thanks

Natalie :)

I paid £375 for our bitch, not sure if this is the going price or not..... :- "

Trouble was i saw her fell in love  and would have paid anything, but then i have always wanted a whippet and just cant wait for things :b

I would be interested to know if this is the going price.........she is pure ped

I think it probably is. Its very similar to information iv been given. Nelly was £180 but that was three years ago so it does sound about right. I just hadnt realised it would go up so much. Apparently prices can go much higher than this too? The k9 member who emailed me today thought that perhaps the crufts winning whippet has also bumped up the price, which also sounds reasonable.

I'll be happy to pay this much. Will just need to save a bit more first. As however the main reason (apart from loving the breed) is a playmate for Nelly :huggles: , not to show or anything, I think a non-ped will settle just as well into our home and duvet :D

I only wanted a Whippet for a pet and not to show or race or anything, but i could find one of those :(

How about a smooth coated lurcher? Our Tess only cost £175- she's 3/4 whippet, 1/8th bedlington and 1/8th greyhound, there are quite a few around, try countryman's weekly.

ps none of her brothers or sisters have the EARS

I remembered seeing a discussion about prices over on the non-ped forum earlier this year and managed to hunt it down for you! Might be of interest

 now I feel I over paid for Tess, but she's so wonderful I would willingly have paid 10 times that

OEH - tess is gorgeous, as are those ears  and im sure shes worth every penny. Will check out countrymans weekly. Thanks.

Helen - have just read through the thread, thanks for the info.

My only question now is, where could I get one? Nelly would be beside herself if she even knew we were considering an addition to the family who not only had the energy to play (our greyhound wont play with her, he just loves to chill -_- ) but could run as fast as her too (w00t)
