Hello Everyone, :D

I am hoping to find someone who can help me in my search for a whippet puppy.

I live in Cornwall and can not belive how few and far between whippet breeders are

My husband, our 11 year old son and I have a male blue brindle whippet called Sidney who is 9 months old and we feel redy to find sidney a friend. :huggles:

Is it true that you shouldn't have a girl and boy together? as this is what I am getting told at the moment

Sidney is due to go in next week to get 'done' as we have no intention to breed from our dogs.

Ideally we'd like a pup who is black or blue in colour.

Does anyone know of any litter about due?

I look forward to hearing from you all.

Thanks

Hi Cornish and welcome to K9. I can't help you find a pup, but as for your questions re having dogs and bitches together, I can't see what the problem would be. Without knowing who would be telling you this, and why, I would have to wonder if the real problem lay with the owners and not the dogs :- " I have had both dogs and bitches together, as well as having 2 dogs. Had no problems with either combination.

good luck with your search

Hiya and thank you for the lovely welcome.

I couldn't see the problem either with male and female mix sets.

But I was sent an email by a kennel owner who said a male and female mix may not be a good idea when the female goes into season.

Our male is being done so that should be ok then shouldn't it? it is all so confussing :)

Thank you though for helping me clear that up as I started to doubt my own thoughts there for a while

Hi Cornish welcome to k9

I have 2 males and 2 females one of the males has been used as a stud I also have male greyhound .

I have no problems with a mix of sexs although if one of the bitches come into season I do have to watch the 2 male Bandit and Owen as they tended to fight but nothing serious just squables really. Now I have 2 bitches Rosie and Tegan .Rosie is Bandit and Tegan's daughter so now mine sleep 1 dog and 1 bitch together although I do use crates at night to prevent any squables hapening at night.

Thank you ever so much... it is very interesting to hear how other people have got on with mixed sex pets.

I spoke to a breeder today who said that she can see no problem with having one of each other than the girl will be the BOSS !!! (w00t) poor sidney lol

Thank you to you all for the lovely welcome :p

Hiya,

I had to giggle at your post .... a year ago this month we lost our ex racing greyhound to spleen cancer.. we adopted him at 4 years old and he lived with us for 10 yrs.

The one thing I can remember with Jacques is his scream!!! anyone would think you were trying to kill him when all you were doing is moving him to where he didn't want to go  lol

Rachel & Sidney,

My two blue boys are blue, and the parents were blue mother and fawn father.

Though they were the only two blues in litter of 5.

Best to get your name down quickly!

Sharon
