Currently bidding on an 04 plate Fiat Punto on eBay :) . It's a Category C so going cheap. Have researched all the parts we need, all the work that needs to be done at the garage and all that can be done at home 8) .

All being well, for £2k we can have a car worth around £3.5k

2 days to go :sweating:

And nobody bid or I'll come and beat you up (w00t)

Been outbid by £50 over the maximum we were prepared to pay, that's us out :( .

Never mind there'll be another car along some day :sweating:

OK so you know I didn't get the 04 plate Punto ... :(

But on Monday at Bawtry Motor Auction we picked up an 03 plate for £1200 :)

It's in desperate need of a coolant system overhaul due to a major airlock (common apparently on these cars due to the radiator height being below the engine height - or something like that :- " ).

It's having a major overhaul including a full flush out and brake fluid, gearbox oil, engine oil etc. OH just took the wheels off to have a look at the brakes and announced "they're barely bedded in" .

There's been a brand new oil change, however the oil filter has clearly not been changed in a while hence the engine oil overhaul.

Only problem is a leak at the water pump so that needs replacing, it's having it's cam belt, thermostat and alternator belt done at the same time just for good measure.

Hopefully we have remedied the airlock, which involved a relay race with 2ltr bottles of water and a lot of engine revving last night :b .

I'm insured :)) .As soon as the certificate comes through I'll be taxed (untaxed since Nov so we've SORN-ed it for now. Hopefully in no time my car will be ready to roll !!! :sweating:

BEEP BEEP VROOM VROOM

Wow it's a long time since I went to the Bawtry auctions!! John had a couple of cars from there in our "teens"!!!

They were nice cars, shame he used to be great at crashing them :- " :- "

Good luck with the Whippet wagon :luck:

Well my insurance came through so I'm now taxed too :)

Car goes into the garage on Tuesday for it's water pump etc. for the price of it we can't grumble  .

I'm driving it down to the garage (w00t)
