like you say it can be done and my black dog likes a roll from time to time , i would say though that a whippet takling a fox can be too even a match and many prefer a dog with better odds.

I agree with Sparky (thats a 1st LOL)

although some whippets can take fox they sometimes find them an overmatch and recieve a lot of punishment.

a bigger bred dog is better suited to fox IMO

it can be a even match you must get in and finish the fox as quickly as you can that way the dog reseves little punishment my old dog is very strong and with a jaw ive yet to see on another whippet and usely has it over by the time i get there

happy hunting

I don't work my Whippets as such, but I have 2 that have taken fox cleanly (pre ban of course) ......but its not something I'd encourage them to do though ......

My old bitch Jess has takne many a fox (pre ban) without serous injury. However i agree with whats been said prevously, they are often evenly matched and a whippet can take some punishment especally if it's a nice sized dog fox.

Jess never jacked on a fox though so it just goes to show the whippets grit and determination to do the job in hand.

If i needed a dog (where it's legal) to take fox on a regular basis i'd go for a 3/4 greyhound 1/4 collie (as i don't like bull x's)
