It is still pretty cold out there today, had to deice the car before the school run!

Lots to do again and hopefully make some final decisions about forums etc...

Ripples keeps humping Blaize and I have no idea how to stop her.. It used to be funny but not the constant 'thump thump thump' is really annoying!

Have a great day everyone!

Brrrrr it's chilly today!!

Aww poor Blaize!

I've got a meeting this morning... Need to make a cuppa first though!

And I've just had to take Molly Moo to the vets, poor love.

Molly is a rescue dog. We got her at 10 months and we were her third home (after her breeder) and when we got her we knew that she'd been starved pretty seriously as a puppy, which has led to stunted growth in some parts of her body, and she'd also had both front legs broken as a puppy. When we got her she had a pretty severe limp in her front legs as she wasn't taken to the vets to set the bones properly and her right front is set now at a rather strange angle.

She always struggles when the ground is too hard or cold and the cold snap last weekend caused a flare up of her poorly foot, so we've been to go and collect some Metacam which will hopefully have her feeling a bit more comfortable in a few days. I really do feel for her- I hate to be in pain :(

Oh my word - poor girl.

Is she trusting of pople?

She's a trusting, loving and gorgeous kitten rearing shepherd, who shares her home with 4 cats. She's terrified of other dogs though, since she wasn't socialised until we got her.

She's a weeny bit wary of men (and as far as she's concerned my partner is not worth guarding!) but she's pretty much bombproof around humans as long as you aren't attacking me or any of the children around the place. She does get a bit anxious if she hears a child screaming, but it's natural for a guarding breed to just check things out when you aren't certain.

We think that she has somewhere between 80 and 100 commands, from trying to list all of the things that she knows, so she's a very clever beastly. I'm honoured to share my life with her :)

BTW- in terms of the humping, have you tried a distraction technique to set Ripples off doing something else? A ball game, short training session or chew toy may be all that it takes, if it's done at the right moment and combined with an understanding of a 'no' word.

Not other than calling her away, although she is quite determined not to stop even when I call her!

Will try distracting....

Awww Molly! What a sad start to her life! She sounds so lovely - is she the dog in your avatar?

Yup, that's my big furry clodhopper :)

And I'm very pleased to report that a single dose of Metacam has stopped her limp whilst walking round the house, and it did it in less than an hour even though she was clearly sore from being examined by the vet. Crossed fingers that she's back to her usual carefree self once we stop giving her the painkillers in a week's time :)

That's good news :) Finger crossed she will be all better soon!
