Hi all... new to the board, so forgive any breaches of protocol...
*I've had a lurcher for the last 10 years, Josh was adopted by us from the RSPCA at Ashley Heath when he was three years old. He was always a very snooty dog, never willing to give much affection - almost cat-like in his approach to humans! I thought this was typical of the breed so gave it not much more thought. Well, that was until Pip arrived! Poor old Josh is on his last legs now, quite ricketty and stiff and quite content to sleep most of the day. We got Pip as a 'contingency' measure and wow what a dog! (I'll post a pic or two when I've worked out how to do it!) He's 10 months old now - we took him at 15 weeks. He's come from good working stock and is very willing and intelligent too, but I haven't a clue how to train him ... He'll sit when asked, but has just discovered his legs and will chase anything that moves!! Last week he was in with a herd of cows and took a good five minutes to recover, now this week he's discovered that chasing swallows is great fun!!
I was with the family at Charlton Horethorne at the weekend and saw a fantastic display of working lurchers there.. what do I have to do to get my dog to do that??
Any help of pointers very gratefully received..
Cheers
Greg
