Reading the post on dog thieves make me paranoid!

Why are dogs stolen?

Do the thieves kill the dog, ask for a ransom?

Although my dog is precious to me his money value, is not as high as a car/jewelery/etc

Even for pedigree dogs without any certificate they have not great value.

There are so many dogs in rescues who would buy a stolen dog?

Are the thieves after racing dogs to race them illegally?

:(

You are quite wrong here i'm afraid, a LOT of money can be made from dog stealing, its quite common nowadays for owners to be demanded ransoms of £1000 plus!!

If like most people you love your dog, its value far exceeds any material goods ie car, jewellery etc & you are desperate to get it back, most owners will pay up.

If a ransom is not asked for or the owner can not pay then the dog is simply sold on, could be for a few hundred pounds or less but even so its easy money for very little work for the scum that take them.

Other reasons, also especially with sighthounds is to be used for breeding purposes with their own lurchers or even worse some breeds & even mongrels have been stolen for bait for their fighting dogs.
