Looks like its going to be a cold one this winter, Zoomie I hope you got your winter warmers ready  .

Simon

The Met Office is about to warn energy companies, transport firms and the NHS of the harsh weather that will freeze Britain this winter.Experts say the UK remains "on track" for the worst winter for at least 10 years. They are holding talks with the bosses of 50 companies tomorrow - the day the first of the season's blizzards and gales are expected to batter the country.

Government departments have already received copies of the long-range forecast so they can plan for a prolonged cold spell.

A Met Office spokesperson told the Daily Express: "The winter will be colder than average with the average temperatures through the winter season that we have not seen for nigh on 10 years.

"At this stage we have no feel for how cold it could get, but the sensible approach for individuals is to prepare themselves, their car and their home for a colder than normal winter."

A national severe weather warning covering the next few days has been issued by the Met Office.

Large parts of the country are expected get some snowfall from Thursday with northern Scotland set to face the first of the wintry conditions.

It will sweep down across the rest of Scotland by mid-afternoon and should reach Northern Ireland and the north of England later in the day.

Southern partsof England will also be affected overnight on Thursday through Friday but it is not clear whether snow or rain will be the main problem.

The weekend is expected to remain bitterly cold.

Ahhhhh, how lovely (w00t) . Roll on spring!

Worst winter for 10 years???

5 years ago we had four feet of snow (maybe five) and it didn't shift for three months. We had to dig a tunnel in the garden to get to the coal bunkers and out to the road - the snow was level with where the roof of the car would have been (couldn't see it for snow). I was trapped in the city for a week and couldn't get home and my OH had about 2 weeks when he couldn't get to work!!! Our dogs were brilliant - we dug them a toilet area and they didn't mess indoors but just clung to the fireplaces with us! Our neighbours would get together for little trips to the nearest village but we all were pretty well stocked up - I'm off to get some long-life supplies this morning.

.... and it could get worse than this???? (w00t) :(

I'm going to design Zoomie a little woollen coat with legs but it was minus eight last week and his little footies were sore with the sharp frost. He still asked for the garden though  I don't know if he would tolerate boots just to go for a walk (he's perfectly happy exercising himself round the furniture with his teddy when the weather's really bad - ohh all right, time for a teddy picture?!)

In his teddy???? I wouldn't be surprised. :D

Can't wait for the pics of him in his little woolly coat. Will he be light enough to run over the 5' drifts or (w00t)

can't wait for the pics of Zoomie and his teddy :)

Won't Teddy need a coat as well if he's planning on accompanying his best pal Zoomie on garden expeditions? :D

Now that would make a great photo Zoomie & his teddy in matching duffle coats in the snow!!
