Hello! This arealhuman. I've had to set up this account as I can't post on the forum. I get the message "you don't have the proper privileges to post here" (or similar wording). Could someone look into it please? Thanks

Hello @arealhuman @AnotherRealHuman - You can now post. For some reason the background system rejects emails out of nowhere. It’s done this to BikerJohn and Excuseme also.

I think it doesn’t like old email addresses or ones that aren’t the standard ‘hotmail’ ‘gmail’ etc. Is yours an old address? I’ve never seen one like yours after the @ sign

As suggested by @Josie, I now use a gmail account and have had no problems since.

Hi @Josie - thanks, it seems to be working now, at least here anyway I haven't changed my mail address, I've always used it here. I use Protonmail as it's private and secure, unlike Hotmail and Gmail (I especially wouldn't use Gmail!).

If anyone wants a secure, private and free email account, try Protonmail, well respected online and created by scientists working at Cern no less!

Had a real problem logging on today. New tablet for Christmas. Apparently my name and email address not recognised on the forum.. Despite receiving weekly forum updates.

As suggested by @Josie, I now use a gmail account and have had no problems since.

Gmail's account not recognised on this site this morning.

Yep, I think the forum's had its own Christmas break! I'm not receiving notifications anymore, despite checking/changing my settings. Still, that's no big deal.

Hi @Nanny71 - I've checked and your account is valid so I don't know why it wouldn't let you log in on your iPad.

Hmmm that's strange @arealhuman - You are still ticked on the system as wanting to receive updates etc.

Once we're back properly in the New Year I will take a look if people are still having problems.

Well when I write a post, I don’t get the option to send it. I can only get myself heard by hitting reply. If that makes sense?

Buuut, hitting 'post reply' is how you're meant to post. What would you expect a 'send' option to do?

I can only get myself posted if I reply to another person’s post, as I am doing now. If I try to start a new thread, that’s when the problem starts.

I had to set up another account to be able to post. As I can now post, I'm using my usual account again.

That does seem odd. Can you see the red 'Post new thread' button on the right hand side in this link? General Discussions and Lounge If so, what happens when you click on it?

No I only have a reply option.
I think I’ll try creating a new account like arealhuman has done. Thanks for your help.
