i am looking to rehome my 2 year old italian greyhound x whippet bitch after xmas. She needs to be rehomed with someone with a lot of time on there hands pref self employed at home or part time. Also someone with no young kids. I have had my girlie since 7 weeks old. She is a very affectionate girl but can be a bit snappy at times. I'm due a baby in may and would not trust her around a new born. She can be funny with some smaller dogs! Most dogs she's fine with (she lives with two others) but only some she growls at. She's never bitten another dog but has been known to scrap! She's good off lead to call! Very intelligent dog! She has bitten and gone for my other half and me before. She is spayed! In general she's a brilliant dog! I'm making her sound aggressive she isn't she just gets snappy with food usually! Hence she wouldn't be suitable in a home with young children! I'm not 100% sure, but I think I remember being told that you have a legal obligation to declare it if you re-home a dog that has a history of aggression. Either way, you certainly have a moral one.

If her problem is 'just' food aggression that can be worked on and can certainly be managed safely, but of course any new owner would have to be aware and prepared to take this on.
I've taken on several dogs over the years who were aggressive/defensive around food initially, and all of them have pretty quickly got over it with some training. In the meantime ensuring that all food and treats are given only in a crate keeps everybody safe.

Its better to be up front and honest. That way her new owner will know exactly what they are taking on and decide whether or not they are prepared to put the work in.

This is I think the third time you have put this Bitch on for rehoming. I will ask again have you spoken to the breeder of this bitch for help in rehoming?

my ollie was VERY food agressive when we got him at 18mths old ,i tell you wat i did and it worked im not saying it will work for every dog but it certinly worked for my ollie ,instead of feeding him in a bowl i scattered his food all over the kitchen floor ,i think this took away the *this is my bowl and my food* and he started happily sharing what was on the floor i continued to do this for months i had to watch him very closly when i done this to make shure he didnt go for my blue ,but it worked ,i then got a large plastic washing up bowl and let them share that and hes never looked back the girls now pinch his food on a regular basis and he oesnt batter an eye lid ,but as i said it worked for us but maybe not work for everyone but defo worth a try under very close supervision ,and as jan said cant the breeder help rehome her ?

As she is an Iggie cross IG rescue or Whippet rescue may be able to help you with rehoming. They both taken in these crosses before. I have contact details for both if you want them. Both home check.

She does have some issues but an experienced dog owner could sort these out .
She would not be suitable to go with someone with little experience .

good luck in fiinding a good home i know its hard with a baby on the way but my biggest fear casper my man of 8 years took to my son AND he could get away with murder with that dog, he would tell my old man off but not me or my son!

sorry hun mine are funny if i try and bring a new adult dog in to there house, i took back one of my pups last year he was a year old and it was a good month b4 we had a happy house again lol alls fine now though hes one of the gang xxx
