i have in my charge ,,,,a dog that is 1/8th over,,,,the litter went to hunting homes

but unfurtunly,,,,one came back,,,,so i decided to train to track

i showed her to a few folk at derby,,,she,s chasing well and looks she will be 32lb,,,,,and i do understand she cant or wont be ever regestered with bwra,,,,,when i mention and say this to folk,,,,who keep coming up to her ,thinking she is geordies worst nightmare,,,that she,s pup not him,,,,that iam going to school her to race,,,some folk have said ,,,cos she was never intended to race,,,but as fate has it she is now,,,,that i should contact,,,bwra and put a case forward so she can race with the bwra and reg

whats the rule as ive lost book ,,,on how a non ped can reg with bwra,,,,is it still ,,smooth coat and whippet in apperance,,,,or has that been thrown out off window and breeding and stating litters

too be honest i aint bothered as i know she can still race at club,,,,but it would be nice to know,,,,if there,s expections to rule,,,and could be regesterd,,,,the story off her is 110% as she and litter mates breeding was on htl when born

just your veiws,,,,or iam i wasting my time if i do try and put her case forward to bwra?????,,,,,i wont take it the wrong way ,,iam easy going

if you can put as much of her breeding together as possible and there is no other breeding but greyhound or whippet

then why not try and register it

the worst they can say is no

just speak to lyn rowley im sure she can help

i know she can be quite scarry lol but she will help if she can

gary

farmer

i know her breeding gary,,,,gwn ( masterblaster x slipper ) daizey ( fagentt emmet x faguett jess ),,,,,makes her 1/8th over

like i said never meant for track,,,but here she is in my house

trouble is i would like her to race in bwra in septeber at club,,,,but as rule has it she cant,,,,,but bigger dogs running at club can,,,,,almost bobs/strom brecker 40lb and no limit (1/2 cross),,,,,adi lin ,,no limit (1/4 cross),,,,chubby chaser,,no limit(3/8 cross),,,,,and fleesh is new pup to scotland( very little grey,,i think ?) ,,,looks like he will be heavier,,,,but pup i have will be smaller,,,yet wont be able to run at bwra,,,and dogs that are i mentioned is huge chunk off kirkcaldy racers,,,,i never agreed to breeding rule,,,i do understand its ruling,,,,but what happens when u have a 21inch dog not aloud to run and a 25inch that can

is there exceptions to the rule,,,if i dont come across any flak on k9,,,,then ill put my case across bwra  i just want to hear folks veiws before i get the big NO from bwra as i expect lol but maybe not as its another racer that could be competeing in their events that aint big by all accounts

Where do i find a copy of the rules please?

I have a lovely bitch that was bred for working but i would love to race her, she's just whippet greyhound in her breeding (not half X half) but i don't know anything at all about her breeding or who bred her, just have pics of her parents and contact with someone who has litter sister.

I have taken her to Old Hall once and we recieved a very warm welcome, everyone who spoke to us said there was no doubt she's a non ped whippet and i should seek to register her but i have no idea how and if it's allowed

She is 22tts & 37lbs.

Just add a quick look at the general racing rules and quote (No.1 whippets are to be whippet like in appearance and recognisable as a whippet ). If your dog looks like a whippet go for it

Well everyone who has met my Fly says she's a whippet and as that included all those at Old Hall (they should know) then i'm going to look into registering her. Still think it wont be that easy as i have no bloodlines or breeding history for her but i'll try my best.

I can always call on her litter sister to show that the litter turned out exactly the same (they are virtually identical)

Who did you buy your dog from, can't they throw some light on who bred your bitch and what she was bred out of.

How do you know it's not a straight half cross,if you know nothing about her breeding ?

You would defo need the breeding confirming, because there may be a possibility this litter has been registered. If it hasn't then you will be able to club run but not run in an BWRA event. Also there is a breeding rule with regards to greyhound breeding in non ped whippets, and this could also mean you are inelligable to run your dog in a BWRA event.Would think if the parents of your bitch are registered then you could possibly prove her breeding by DNA testing. This would proove beyond any doubt and NOBODY would be able to question her breeding, and any litters that you may want to breed from her in the future.

All i was told is Mom is half cross, dad was 3/4 X 1/4.

The guy i got her from just wanted rid as she was the last pup left. Didn't give me any more info than that, was all done in a rush as he was about to have her PTS because he needed the space

The best snap decission i've ever made tho as she's wonderful.

I found her sister after i posted a pic of her on another forum and a member messaged me who had an identical pup to mine, he gave me the correct dob and parents breeding, also area they came from, when he sent me a pic of his they look like twins. His is same height but 2lbs lighter than mine. He also said he couldn't get any more info from the breeder other than the parents were workers so could explain why breeder was so secretive.

Oops double post :b

Going on what you've just said.I would very much doubt the parents and the litter are registered and as such, would not be allowed to run in a BWRA event, but you could still go to a club and be welcomed to run there

Oh i'm positive the parents weren't registered as they were working dogs only. The pups were intended workers as well.

I was just told by someone that she maybe eligable for registration as a non ped because she is of that breeding. (I also have pics of both parents) to prove.

As it's an 80 mile round trip to Old Hall it'll be a shame if she can only run there for fun and never do anything else :(

We had a lovely day there but i must admit to feeling slightly competitive and wanting to know how she could progress if she was good enough and enjoyed it.

I've been refused entry to a lurcher race because in thier opinion she's a whippet.

I guess mine is stuck in no mans land, she is but she isn't.

I didn't think the registry would be closed to new dogs like the KC system.

Guess i misunderstood the "No.1 whippets are to be whippet like in appearance and recognisable as a whippet"

No worries we shall still pop over for a blast now & again

What is the new ruling regarding greyhounds and non peds in the breeding of dogs being allowed to be registered? I have read bits and pieces on some of the topics. I have heard 55lb being the capped weight and no greyhounds for 5 generations etc. etc. Thanks

bwra have a 55 cap and a ruling on breeding to greyhounds not as much as 5 gens though think its one or 2 but not sure

the new rule states that you cannot breed a first cross ( first genaration ) whippet back to greyhound

ie half greyhound x half whippet . this would on paper produce a 6/8 greyhound 2/8 whippet

also you cannot put a 2nd cross ( second genaration ) back to greyhound

ie 1/4 greyhound 3/4 whippet . this would produce a 5/8 greyhound and 3/8 whippet

3rd genaration is ok

ie 7/8 whippet 1/8 greyhound this on paper put to a greyhound would produce a 5/8 whippet and 3/8 greyhound

you can also put a 1/2 cross to a half cross this is ok this would produce a 4/8 greyhound 4/8 whippet or still 1/2 and 1/2

where the ruling goes wrong is that there are dogs that are clearly whippets but are second genaration ie 3/4 whippet weight from 16lb that cant under the new ruling mate a greyhound

and ther are dogs that are 3rd genaration ie 7/8 whippet that weigh 40lb plus that can be mated back to a greyhound  :x

Thanks Gary for explaining, most of it makes sense to me lol.

How would you get on with a KC reg whippet over a Greyhound?

I'm pretty sure this would be considered a straight 50/50 but would a pup from this litter be able to register & race BWRA?

Also neither parent is BWRA registered, does this matter if you have 5 gen pedigree for both parents?

Sorry about all the questions but i'm new and need to start somewhere ;)

the 55lb was enough in my opinion the breeding issue im my opinion is a load of bulloxs. (w00t) but rules are rules and we must abide by them well i think you do. ;)
