Hi. Not a dog related post but still a very important one. Last week I set up a petition calling for the government to make it law for all cats to be microchipped. I require 100,000 signatures to get the government have a debate about it in parliament. If you agree, please click on the link attached below & feel free to share amongst friends

Many thanks,

I wish i could help, but i'm in the USA & my signature would not count. :(
Microchips are a wonderful tool & IME are overlooked by many pet-owners - even a small pet can be chipped, & if they are lost, it helps to get them back to U.

Years ago, while sharing my older sister's house & making $$ for college, a cockatiel arrived in their yard, whistling. He was terrified of the larger birds, a blue jay flying overhead sent him shrieking up into the tree-tops as if the jay was a bird-hunting accipter, & spent more time flaring off the food than he spent eating.
It took me 3 days to catch him, & while very thin, he wasn't in horrible condition - just very hungry, & in need of a safe place to restore his muscle. // A week later, he was in decent shape, & i put an ad in the paper looking for his owner - he had a tune he'd whistle & danced the sailor's hornpipe, a very friendly bird.
WHILE I WAS AT WORK, & without asking me, my eejit elder-sis gave the bird to someone who claimed he was hers... she'd already bought another bird "to replace him", but said she was thrilled to get him back. 4 days later, she was phoning to say he wasn't hers, after all, & that he "wasn't getting along" with the new cockbird.
I told Peggy it was her mess, & she'd have to get herself out of it - i wasn't getting involved.

A microchip would've made all the difference, allowing me to get him home again, & his owner to reunite with an obviously-adored pet. :(
