Regularly I find my dog tiring with here mouth slightly open. It is very funny! She generally does it when she is lying somewhere comfy or we are about to give her a treat or we are eating something and she is looking at us. She is a rescue sprollie and has bad anxiety but is getting better and happier as she gets older. She is 7 by the way. Is it normal? Thanks

Listen, I think many dog owners over react and ok at times that’s fine, I.e.first timers , right first thing is check the point of your worry, so check the dogs mouth, it’s summer so prob tired, warm, if the dog is stubborn and not drink, just cool the dog down, so your just back from walk some dogs sit and look at us, there happy, they are contented, but hey believe it or not they are working us, it’s after midnight, I’ve had a dram or two so am i reading this wrong

To me that sounds normal...it is his expression. Every dog has their own facial expressions that makes them separate one from other similar looking one.
Not only that...just like they read us from many little things we express by body language or even minute looks we give...they too have these signals that they do...we just have to learn to read what they mean.

Not only it is his 'expression' but dogs do taste the air as well, they don't only use their nose..;)
It could be that he has found out that supply of the smells through his mouth works better?? Who knows....it is just one of those things.

Is it a new thing her opening her mouth ....is she drooling at all ....

Yep, look we all have done it, overthink things, only time to overthink and act is poison, large open cuts, leg breaks, heat exhaustion, you get my drift, relax and enjoy with the fun that owning a dog brings.

It could be drop jaw ..that's why I asked if this is a new thing and has she been drooling :)
