Worming/lungworm recommendations please

I usually send off poo samples to have them screened for worms and lungworm, but delivery is still iffy at the moment and I don't want the sample to be sitting in a sorting office for a few days So I think I need to use a chemical wormer

He's had both Drontal and Panacur in the past, and has thrown up after - not every time, but there's usually some sign of a disturbed digestion. Could anyone recommend anything more gentle, please? Does it make a difference if he has them with food? I can't remember what the instructions were when I used them.

Could giving separate treatments for each type of parasite at different times help him tolerate them?

Panacur is supposed to be really gentle so if that doesn't agree with him, it could be hard to find something that does.

I use Milbemax, it covers lungworm if you use it monthly.

Just looked at the Drontal instructions leaflet; it says it can be taken with or without food.

If he reacts to tablets, would you consider a spot-on treatment? I really don’t like using them as I always feel like I am dosing the whole family as well as the dog. However, have had to resort to using Advocate a few times. I think it covers most parasitic worms (although have a feeling it doesn’t cover against tape worm, but I might be wrong).

Haha, he has a completely different sort of reaction to spot-ons - he seems to think I'm trying to kill him Thanks for the suggestion, though.

To be honest, I would be the same if someone tried to put that stinky stuff on me too!

In over 40 odd years I’ve only had one dog throw up on meds, next time he was back to normal,, it seems odd to me but a lot a dogs nowadays are prone to so many issues , maybe it’s us humans that’s screwed the world up and dogs paying the price! Just a thought .

It's the lungworm that bothers me... reading online, apparently it's not easy to diagnose from a stool sample so I'm not sure how much I can rely on Wormcount. And checking the symptoms (when mild) - well, Jasper has looked tired towards the end of walks, and he does 'hawk' occasionally (usually right next to OH when OH is in an online meeting) - I'm sure the tiredness is a mixture of age, heat/humidity/longish walks and the hawking is normal for him, but it's best to play safe.

I'm going to try Panacur liquid suspension and see how that goes down. Some dogs refuse food that has been laced with it so I'll mix it with a can of sardines.
