Hi all. Hope you are all well and safe. My wife and I are currently looking for a rough coated lurcher puppy. The lurcher We have at the moment is now 13 years old and is starting to slow down and we would like to get another. We got him from Hancock' but I cannot make any contact with David or Sally Hancock. Can anyone point me in the right direction please if they know any reputable persons who may be able to help. We have been looking on various websites but we do not feel comfortable buying from just anybody.
Thanks Richard.

You are very sensible to choose your breeder carefully. David and Sally no longer breed lurchers, and I believe have moved from their smallholding.

Most responsible breeders are waiting until after lockdown to put a bitch in pup, so you may have to wait a bit. There will be a lot of pups and young adults in Rescue soon, as lockdownn lifts, but that might not be the way you want to go.

You might put a 'wanted' advert in Horse and Hound and/or Countryman's Weekly.

Hi Richard sent you a message JBP

Do please update me - my understanding was that they'd sold the property and stopped breeding lurchers. I don't want to give wrong information.

You have to email Sally and she will let you know when she's planning on a litter. I think she's only doing a couple of litters a year from home.

Thank you. Information isn't needed for me, but in case anyone asks.

Hi Richard,
I hope you don't mind me jumping on your thread and some time has passed since you posted this, but I'm in the same boat! I lost my beautiful lurcher Alfie a few years ago, and am also looking for another rough coated dog but to no avail. I'm presuming it's lockdown related, but I certainly don't remember having this trouble finding a dog previously. Did you have any joy? If any suitable pups appear, they disappear just as quickly and I'm not sure where to turn next. Hopefully you found a lovely lurcher! Julia

Are you a looking for a pup or a slightly older dog ...up to one year ...arundawn dog rescue has some lovely lurchers in ...couple of those were rough coats

Thanks for that -I'll take a look over at Arundawn. I'm pretty set on a pup but you never know who might melt your heart! Thanks for letting me know though

There were some bedlington X pups on gumtree that were in Southampton. ..
