Hello
Just found this forum through a quick google search having welcomed an 8 week old Springer Spaniel pup into our family 6 days ago. He is adorable but exhausting! We also have a 12 yr old Springer dog (we had him
Aged 5, so this whole puppy thing is new to us!). Our old boy is being great with pup and our cat is tolerating him but not massively impressed.

So much to learn and think we are making some progress but be great to share ideas with others.

love flump x

Welcome! We'd love to see some puppy photos if you're happy to share - and photos of your older boy and your cat, of course:)

Yeah of course. Meet our little gang!

Oh, they are all adorable! I love the photo of your pup using his 'big brother' as a cushion:)

Lovely pics! Hi and welcome to you all:)

Thank you x
Hi Flump. I welcomed a new pup In to my home on Friday. He’s a 9 week Bichon Maltese. I also have a 12.5yr old golden retriever Molly. You’re right in it being exhausting. I’m interested to know what the sleeping arrangements are for you. Molly can’t make the stairs anymore so she sleeps downstairs. I’ve got a crate both downstairs and upstairs for the pup but I’m not sure what’s best. I don’t want Molly to feel she’s being pushed out x

I'd have the pup close to you in the night. Apart from being reassuring for the puppy, your older dog will probably appreciate the peace and quiet.

Hi FullofFaith, we have the same issue, our gorgeous old boy Flynn is starting to struggle with arthritis so he sleeps downstairs. At the minute my husband is sleeping downstairs with dog and cat and I have the puppy in a crate upstairs. Although on sat night my husband gave me a night off and had the puppy in crate plus dog and cat downstairs. Pup is sleeping quite well, goes to bed at 10:30 ish, up at 1,4 and then 7 roughly. I hadn’t appreciated how hard juggling the two would be. Trying to do some basic training with pup and doggo is there too doing it perfectly and wanting treats, (which we need to limit as need to watch weight with his joints). Trying to build
In some time separate for them in the day. Xx
