Hi everyone.
My chuaha has a heart murmer grade 4 and I want ensure I feed her the best food with minimal salt etc. I wondered if other dog owners could share their experience with me and treatments. She's 11 and not overweight.

We have / our daughter has a 4 year old Cocker who had at the age of 8 weeks a grade 3 to 4 heart murmur. The vet checks her every year or whenever our daughter passes the surgery. I her 4 years the murmur has never changed , she is fully active and works in the beating season, when chasing balls she runs as hard and fast as her mother and the others. She has never had any medications for her murmur.
This year when she had her yearly check the vet said that her murmur had improved
She as all our other dogs have been weaned and brought up on a Raw diet.
Our oldest girl is now 13, (she is fit and active although not as fast anymore) we keep all of our girls fit and not fat.
It sounds as if you doing the right thing by not letting your girl get too heavy in her old age and with a heart murmur this has to be a positive thing to do.
I find that feeding Raw meat and bones to all of our different aged girls helps control their weight easily, and adjusting how much each dog is getting whether it is more or less adjusts their weight quiet quickly.

Could you consider feeding Raw to your girl as @JoanneF F has mentioned.

Thank you for your advice

Raw would likely be a good option for her. Butchers do a heart healthy range but I honestly wouldn't bet the farm on it.

Heart murmurs can be caused by different issues. I picked up on your comment that the Vet said it had improved, and found the following online.
=================================================
Innocent heart murmurs are harmless sounds made by the blood circulating normally through the heart's chambers and valves or through blood vessels near the heart. They can be common during infancy and childhood and often disappear by adulthood. They're sometimes known as "functional" or "physiologic" murmurs.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm guessing the same could be true for puppies and adult dogs. You might question your Vet about the possibility of it being an 'innocent or functional heart murmur'.
