Don't worry too much about the elevated liver enzymes. The blood tests Gwylim had done before his dental surgery showed he had elevated liver enzymes. When he had his next set of blood tests about three months later his liver enzymes were normal..

That's good to know. I'm hoping it'll turn out to be nothing.

Sorry to be late to this thread. How is Bungo doing now? Did he have sedation or general anesthesia? Did he have a dental cleaning? I wasn't clear on what initiated the whole procedure, but I know the main thing you wanted them to do was check his foot.

Tolly and Mazy cat (cats) both had elevated ALT later in life. They both took Denosyl and it kept the numbers down, though a course of antibiotics was also given intially, because it was possible that infection was causing the issue. Baytril was the antibiotic used.

In Tolly's case the elevated liver numbers wasn't unexpected because he was on phenobarbital all his life. Years later, Mazy cat's issue was idiopathic, but the Denosyl helped a lot.

Bungo is doing OK thanks. He is sleepy, but we are having another heatwave which won't be helping, otherwise he is eating, drinking and toileting fine.

No, he didn't have a dental cleaning, his teeth are nice and white, I asked for his mouth to be checked because he has lost a few front teeth.

I felt that as he needed sedating it would be good to do a blood test too, especially as I was concerned that he has been urinating a lot as well as leaking etc, apart from urine tests nothing was being done and I kept being told it was his age, the meds he was on etc but it didn't feel right, as it turns out I'm glad I pushed for the blood test.

Pleased to hear the medication helped Tolly and Mazy, if it turns out Bungo needs something, I hope it helps him.

Denosyl is actually a supplement not a medication. At least in the US. It's SAM-e, for liver support. The other version, Denamarin is SAM-e and milk thistle (sylimarin). Made by Nutramax

I see, sorry, it's not something I've heard of before, no idea what SAM-e is. I have heard of milk thistle though.
I've promised myself not to do any googling until after the scan etc, don't want to frighten myself, but I shall make a note of this so I can ask if needed.
