Congratulations to all the winners, and bluebell for all the lovely pix, and of course Paris, she is a star. a great win Deidre. Ian/John/ Joe/ Janet all great winners, and all the other names to numerous to mention. Thanks to Robert for all the organising and hard work.

Robert the only constructive critism I would have of yesterdays show is there were dogs running yesterday without mussells. Crazy, it is just a stroke of luck no dog was mauled to pieces. If our whippett Sandy had of been there ( We could not bring her as she is in heat at the moment ) I would of refused to let her run if the rest of the dogs were not musselled. Its not fair to put a poor dumb animal out there to be torn to pieces by another dog when it could be prevented by putting a mussell on. As anaimal lovers, we all adore our dogs. Over the years constantly going to shows, most of times the race would not have been run if the dogs were not musselled, as we all have seen what can happen. Next show mussells should be compulsery. ?

They were supposed to be compulsary Margaret.Which was why, although Trouble has never in her life, even looked at another dog, had to wear that great bloomin yellow plastic thing, that she could neither see over ,nor under.I agree totaly about the muzzle thingy,as i too have been the recipient of a dog not wearing one.Beleive me,it's not nice having a big 80lb dog, swinging on youre hane, thinking he's just been a very good doggy, and caught the lure for his master.Especialy when he thinks he can also retrieve the bloody thing. If Cilt hadn't been wearing a muzzle yesterday,he would have taken poor Dannyboy to pieces. But thankfully the more responsible owners did follow the rules.I dont think Robert has much time to re inforce his rules,as he's doing too much of everything else,to notice.Maybe we need to start speaking up on the line, and refusing to run, till all dogs are muzzled.Good point you raised. ...Billy...

I don't think I've ever seen a race over here were they didn't wear muzzles, I certainly wouldn't let my dogs race if others wasn't wearing them, Dogs can be quite brutal on the lure after a race. Only my opinion, each to there own. ;) Di

well said margaret and billy the way I see it it should be up to the bloke shaking thr drag its a simple as wheres that dogs muzzle no muzzel sorry its not running go get a muzzel and it can run I run my dogs at the last event to only see other dogs on the line with thier dogs not muzzled leaving the muzzled dog at risk and not even able to defend its self Leaving the question open who would be responisable 4 the vet bill the other dog owener or the event orginisers or does the wound dog owener take a mauled dog home with a real bad taste in thier mouth

come on folks lets hear your comments

I ran my bitch with no muzzle, but I did ask all the other owners running with me if they had any objections, and no-one had. The only reason I ran her without one was the ones I had with me didn't fit her, but at no time did anyone insist, that is organisers or fellow racers, that muzzles were compulsory. I would have withdrawn her otherwise.

In saying all that, I now have one ordered for her, and yes, it has to be a rule that no unmuzzled dogs race, at least now everyone knows and there are no excuses!!

The lurcher folk are used to this rule, but remember, this was probably the biggest turnout for whippets in years over here, it was brilliant to see, and I think it's fair to say that we don't take the racing as serious as maybe we should, so a set of basic rules should be drawn up and sent out to all members and then we all know what's expected! Maybe the club should also consider buying a set of racing jackets aswell, make us more profesional looking!!!
