I am a mum of a nearly eight months old maltipoo puppy.
She started skipping one of her back leg couple of weeks ago
The vet took some X-ray and told my husband (I could not get off my work) that there is nothing wrong with her leg nor hip
She may just develop the habit and so just live normally, no medicine no limitation on walk or no supplements to help her.

is it really something like a dog develop a habit of skipping a leg?

I want to try some supplements but my puppy has sensitive stomach and tend to have digestive problems currently on a probiotics so worried about taking without vet advice but the vet said supplements like glucosamine chondroitin do not help

Any advise would be very much appreciated

It can be a sign of luxating patella, which is common in small breeds, including poodles (I don't know offhand about Malteses). It can be hereditary, I don't suppose her parents were tested for it before breeding? If it does turn out to be that, you should tell her breeder.

I'd see another vet.
I second the above advice ....our jack russell had luxating patellars on both knees but with exercise and good diet they didnt need operating on ....i would think it unusual for a dog to start skipping for no reason. ..

Thank you for responding

The Vet at first said it could be luxating patellar but after taking the X-ray he said nothing wrong
I talked with her breeder her parents are both ok

both the vet and the breeder said sometime puppies grow fast but muscle doesn’t

my girl has been not 100% since the X-ray as she was sedated
Not eating properly for three days now
So I want to avoid another X-ray
Is Vet obliged to give me a copy of her X-ray if requested?

Yes I would ask to have a pic of the xray emailed to you or ask for a 2nd opinion and vets will ask for her records
