Lurcherman, she is a pet, though she has raced most weekends apart from winter. I presume your cross had more coat and body fat than a full Whippet. But after having dogs of many breeds over the years I have to say sight hounds are wonderful.

I use a harness, Folly is secured on the back seat, she settles well and often sleeps till the car stops. The crumple zones worry me about putting her in the rear, the luggage space is designed to crumple in the event of a crash and I do not want her being crumpled.

Just a small different idea, in your original post you say she reacted differently meeting a male and a female. I would say for the average normal pet dog, if it walks on a lead without pulling and it has a decent recall then that would be all it needs. Obviously after house training of course.
