I can think off So Many THings that could go wrong, LOL, when a dog is casually clipped to a drone-walker & sent off... ... :D
Getting tangled around a shrub or traffic sign-post
Reacting to their neighborhood nemesis
Seeing a dear friend [human or other], & galloping over to “visit”...

This is a photo dump of Florida pix -
Now that i’ve finally figured out how to post photos from my Google Photos, which was a struggle, & still lacks quality [I can’t make the photo go edge to edge on my iPad, & thus my screenshots include the open headers. Ugly. And dumb. C’est la vie.]...

Thanks, @Ari_RR -
it’s a challenging life, but Lord & Lady, at least now i have a roof over my head, & it’s the SAME roof from week to week, *lol*.
Being homeless was the pits, & scrambling to find $$ for an AirB&B on a near-weekly basis was crazy-making; they deduct the payment up front, so...

It’s 11:40-pm local time, & i am sitting in my bathing suit in the dark, on our deck, with my feet in a kiddy wading-pool filled with 3 10-qt buckets of cold tap water. // I’m dam*ed tired, i’m cranky & hot & sticky; it reached 81’ F inside the house at 2-pm today, & that was NINE hours ago...

Given that she’s just 8.5-WO, i am also going to jump in & recommend VERY limited access to the house. :)
She’s obviously not yet housetrained [she won’t have working sphincters hooked up to her bladder & bowel until she’s 12-WO, approx a month from now, AND she still needs to learn what...

Many rescue groups in the U-S use volunteers to do their home inspections in distant places, or ask the local ACOs to do a home check for them, using the rescue’s check-list as their criteria. :)
With such an enormous country, mileage is definitely a problem when placing adoptees, so there...

In the USA, there are *still* towns & counties which are not rural spaces, yet do not require leashes & permit or ignore free-roaming dogs. Naturally, these inviting spots also have no regulations that require S/N for non-breeding dogs & cats.
The shocking result is a plethora of strays...

I definitely understand the need for a 6-ft fence as a standard ht, but personally, i’d opt for NO fence, vs a fenced plot that lets the owner abandon the dog to her or his own devices, for hours on end, or days & weeks & even months. :(
Been there, seen it. // A dog who lives inside a...

Oh, @Nanny71 , that sciatica flare-up sounds dreadful. :(
I am so glad U & hubby are doing better - back pain & hip pain are hellish. // U cannot lie down, stand, sit, bend over, ANY & EVERY position is painful. Yee-owch. Hopefully Ur relief is pretty permanent, with the new hip, but...
.
Yes, sadly, here in the U-S there are also rescues with unrealistic demands that really winnow the number of potential homes down to a pathetic few. :(
Let’s face it, few of us are self-employed or retired, with adequate income to take on a pet WITHOUT leaving the house to work. Unless U hit...

Oh, Lordy, that’s awful. :( I am so sorry to hear it, I know U were thrilled when the Doc gave the OK to start longer walks again. //. What numpty left a wire noose lying about on a public street! - ye gods, how could anybody think that was safe to leave carelessly on the ground?!
I...

Boxers, Bulldogs, & all the bully relatives are notorious for noxious & frequent gas.
:(
One way to help them digest their food better & prevent the stinking clouds is to supplement their diets - probiotics & digestive enzymes will break down the proteins, starches, sugars, etc, so that they...

hey, John,
I grew up on a family farm in Bucks Co., PA, & weather is one of the great trials of farmers around the world. :( I am so glad that i am not farming, especially grain, in this chaotic climate!
A few years back, while I lived in Ye Olde Dominion [Virginia], there was a regional...

Welcome! :)
I’m in the U-S, born in Pennsylvania near the Delaware River, but currently live in Boston, Mass, & yes, New England today has much the same climate as the Pennsy of my youth.
:D The Orange Donald notwithstanding, climate change moves on apace, & Boston is the area hardest hit...

“Flooding” a dog has a negative rep b/c it is, as Ari-RR said, precisely the act of taking them into circs that are beyond their ability to cope.
Ergo, what U did with Kay & leashed dogs she did not know was *not* flooding; the dogs were leashed, they could not approach her, a trusted person...

I can only add my support to the many above, who note that punishing a dog MAY work, but in the long term, it damages the relationship -
& when used with sensitive or timid dogs, punitive tactics — such as shouting, smacking, over facing them via flooding, etc — and / or the use of aversive...

I posted a link earlier about the post-op pain caused by the inflation gas - I am going to paste the relevant paragraph here.

.”Intraperitoneal gas pains are caused by gas trapped outside of the intestines, but inside the abdominal cavity. Gas trapped in the abdominal cavity, or...
