We had a greyhound, we lived in a flat too but it was ground floor with a garden so bit different. She was extremely chilled and kept herself most of the time. She was walked morning and evening and let out into the garden maybe once or twice during the day so you would definitely need a dog...
Lol he LOOKS like an angel... I can agree with that... But he certainly doesn't behave like one. He's being enrolled in puppy classes next week in the hope it will help. Fingers crossed!!
Our last dog we adopted at two years old... We now have a puppy (well he was given to our friend but we pretty much live at hers now so he belongs to the three us!) and I can honestly say... ADOPT AN OLDER DOG. Roz (our first dog) was so easy going and no trouble at all... Giz is a monster in a...
That's also in the plan, friend is just clearing all the shrubs from one corner where there is a flower bed and she's going to put some turf on that. I think once he starts going in the garden he'll continue to do it... It's just getting him to start!!
We will of course continue with the positive reinforcement, taking him out frequently until he gets the hang of it... The belly band would just be used in addition to this.
Garden is paved which I suspected might be the issue... Although he will wee on the pavement while out walking so I don't know if it is that. Friend is the process of clearing all the shrubs out of one corner ready to lay some turf down in the hope that may help.
There's nowhere grassy outside...
He will wee while out on a walk most of the time, and is given massive praise when he does, but just won't wee in the garden, it's really strange. He's not frightened of the garden, he's happy to be out there but just has no interest in weeing, he'll wait until he comes inside. We were hoping if...
This was my concern... But we will still encourage him to wee outside...plus I hoped he would find it uncomfortable to wee in a pad so may deter him from doing it while he has it on.
Obviously we will continue getting him to wee outside, he still seems very adverse to toileting in the garden and I don't know why. Just in the meantime the more he is weeing in the house the worse he seems to be getting. I'm guessing because he can still smell his own urine indoors...even...
Oh sorry... They are basically dog nappies! It's like a wrap thing that goes around their waist and you can put a pad in there to catch the urine. I never knew such things existed until it was mentioned on here by someone!
Yep... Our retired greyhound slept in our bed for her entire life... Despite us both agreeing before we got her that she would never share the bed! She also had her own spot on the couch lol
What are people's thoughts on these?
Someone mentioned using them as a toilet training aid on my other thread and I must admit... After looking them up I'm very tempted to give them a try as puppy is still frequently weeing indoors despite consistent efforts to take him outside.
I wondered if...
I've not been on this forum long but have found you extremely helpful Violet. That goes for many of the others on here, I've learnt more just reading the posts on this thread then I ever did when I was researching on the Internet for tips!
Lol information overload... But thank you... I appreciate it.
He's fed twice daily, he averages 4 poos a day but they are small and properly formed. Not massive or loose.
The belly band thing is interesting... I never knew you could get such a thing!
My friend is going to clear some bushes...
