Golden Retrievers Are good first dog for new ‘owners’ - the do need a lot of time and can’t be left alone for long periods. They also need a lot of exercise and mental stimulation. If you have those to offer a golden retriever would be great.
I don’t have any experience of field spaniels so...
My daughter is 27 and is saving to buy a property which will be about 4ish years away. - unless she has to relocate for work 😀 we shared august from the start - however since she has been saving for a property she wanted to take Kiki (my cat) and august stay with me as she wouldn’t cope with...
My daughter and I have a big difference of opinion about spaying August - the discussion has resurfaced as august has just started her second season. I know taking her for walks needs us to be constantly vigilant and I am happy to take over all of this as I am quite positive I don’t want august...
Thanks for your responses 😀 hopefully I can get this resolved soon as vet nurse said no obvious injury to paws and that she must be licking more often and to keep and eye on it
I was wondering if it could be a seasonal allergy- her paws are pink now from the iron in her saliva lol looks pretty enough but I don’t want her to itch 😀
August has had increased itching over past weeks - started with paws and seems to be going higher now. No fleas - anyone have any supplements they can recommend for allergies?
Congratulations 😀 I don’t believe in do’s and don’ts other than getting them to settle in happily and works for your family. When I brought my lab home at 8 weeks, I took 2 weeks off work even though I mostly work from home. We had a crate inside a very large puppy pen in the dining room and I...
If your pup isn’t a foodie I think you will need to experiment to find out what they consider to be high value. Another thing to consider is as with most pups being outside and all the sights and smells is their high value treat so you may have to work harder to get their attention back to you...
Our vet is a small chain but also have another larger chain of vets in the area. I have insurance and a pet plan for august so all consultations, and health checks, vaccinations, microchip and neutering (which I haven’t gone for) is included. Only time I paid was for the antihistamine and...
I used to watch the Donny and Marie show when I was a kid 😀 and love the Kinks 😀 watched joseph and amazing colour Dreamcoat with Donny osmond when I was away last month 😀
Not advice but a little aside… since transitioning august to only raw food she has stopped eating outdoors cat, dog, bird and fox poop - maybe a coincidence but I am pleased either way 😀
Thanks - my son didn’t keep august as the behaviourist advised not a good idea with the mother so great for me it that sense. I would prefer an older dog - under 5 years old as an older dog may find a Labrador too much.
We are looking to add another dog to our home in the next few months and although I would prefer another girl, I have read a fair bit advising not to have 2 females together and nothing saying it is fine! Is this a myth or is there actual science here? We are looking for a cocker spaniel, beagle...
I give august a stick of cold celery when she is mooching- keeps her occupied for 10 minutes and seems to satisfy her need to eat - and almost no extra calories 😀
Another thing you can consider is he may have an intolerance to fish and you said you feed a lot of oily fish - too much oily fish can also be a possible issue
What a beautiful dog 👍
We feed raw to our dog and as my daughter is vegan, we worked to make it as easy as possible for her- portioning frozen food into dog bowls with lids and once defrosted just pop lid off without having to look at the food 😀
Most complete raw prepared packs look much like...
@JudyN seems like the small one is no longer available- I have my email provided for when they are back in stock. I can find a few large ones for £28 so having to consider it as I know August will get a lot of fun from it. Decision day is Monday payday 😀🤣
