Thank you Tanya. :huggles: I was beginning to think people thought we had lost the plot when it came to caring for our hound!! Yes, we have agreed to contact Rachel again, to let her know how things are improving.
I know this sounds pathetic, but one would have to see Jacques to understand...
Thank you BigPaws, you are very kind! I did a "dog photo" search but only found a couple of "snow scenes". I think it was January Xmas/Jan 2009 when we were all snowed in wasn't it? There were some super snaps shared here and I remember saying to my hubby that some would make lovely Xmas cards...
Ban the fireworks?????
When they have been such a part of our lives for so many decades!!! Surely not!! Spoil the fun??? We must be seen to be tolerant, mustn't we!!!! Let's not be party poopers! After all, it's our choice to keep dogs! We must go with the flow, even if it means distress and...
It has been a matter of general discussion for many years, that dogs ought to be muzzled when out in public places. Mainly for the sake of children and the elderly, but more and more because of fighting dogs. Have you not read the newspapers????
I have had 12 dogs without problems of...
TTT the problems we are having with Jacques would be multiplied a 1000 times if we betrayed his love and trust, and passed him onto someone else! I am surprised that you think this could be an option??? At times I struggled with my teenage children but I didn't rehome them!!! LOL!
,
Jacques...
3-4 winters ago K9 members posted some super pics of their dogs enjoying the snowy weather. Almost everyone had something nice to share. I asked at the time if I could copy and paste a couple to use as Christmas cards and the member was happy to say yes.
I have lost these photos and wondered if...
No TTT we didn't. Hubby thinks they are dangerous! Not sure if they resemble the Canny Collar, but Jacques simply refused to walk with that on, and wouldn't stop jumping up at me, no matter what I did.
Today was a nightmare, I had Jacques wearing his new (Sam's old!) fleecy lined coat for a...
Greetings Anna Banana and welcome to K9! my perfect Italian Greyhound :) is there such a thing???? LOL! Seriously, I thought these little darlings were a bundle of mischief and trouble - with a passion for mating cushions, children's legs and etc etc!!! Hope I've heard wrong!
Being a dyed in...
Thank you Biker John. Yes, we have thought of this. The problem I currently face is; I can't drive after dark and have quite bad arthritis in my joints. Hands in particular. I would need a lift to a reputable training class; and Jacques hates the car! Also, too many dogs in one place might...
I took Jacques out today for his first short walk, after our 3 weeks enforced house/garden exercise. He has been super in learning obedience, doing, sit, paw, lie-down, wait, and now speak but out of the garden he seems no better.
He didn't pull as much as before, but did bark at some children...
Sam says "please?"
What price love???
Lynn Chapman who runs the Rescue stall at most whippet shows, said she is willing to put a pic of Sam on the notice board alongside their stall at Crufts next year, plus a couple of small pics showing the auto-immune condition responding to treatment. Sam...
From what you describe, it sounds like very normal (?) whippet behaviour to me!
When they go into "excitement" mode, normal reason/behaviour goes out the window! It's not that they mean to be disobedient/deaf - they just can't respond to anything except the sheer exuberance of being free...
Eingana you sound a very wise, compassionate lady!! We thought we were helping Jacques to be a proper dog when in fact we weren't allowing him time to come to terms with Sam's passing. Now that we are taking a more holistic approach everyone is happier.
We had our first visit to the vet...
As most of you know, we lost our beloved Sam in July to Lymphoma at the age of twelve and a half. He had been a Rescue dog and we had known and loved him since the age of 7 months.
The autoimmune condition struck aged 15 months, and from then on it was a daily battle to keep him and his body in...
